H&R Block

"I set an appointment today to talk to someone about a letter I received from the IRS. I made at least 2 other appointments at other H&R Block locations that were by-appointment only and no one was there. I was told by phone that at least one of the locations was now permanently closed. I received no notifications by email or text about this. I set up a call today at the Cambridge location and the person I was supposed to have an appointment with didn't show up on the Google Meet. When I called the office, I was told they were in a meeting. The person who answered the phone was very unprofessional and hung up on me when I tried to set up an in-person meeting at their location. She assured me I would get a call back from the person I had an appointment with. I received no call. This is unacceptable. Please do better."

"I had an absolutely awful experience with them. I thought it would be easier to have someone else do my taxes this year instead of trying to do them myself. It turned out to be even more stressful. The online portal apparently glitched and didn't even process any of the documents i submitted. When I called customer service they were incredibly unhelpful and kept passing me to different departments, saying they couldn't help me, gave me conflicting advice, and then told me that I would be at fault for any tax issues that resulted from their broken system. I finally was told to just go in person, which I had to do the night before I needed to leave for a trip. I was told that I could just drop off my paperwork quickly and follow up via phone. I was sent an appointment time, but the business didn't follow the appointments. I ended up waiting close to two hours just to "drop off" my tax documents."

"First they rescheduled my appointment for a later time in the evening. I reached there for my appointment at 5 45 pm atleast ten minutes before. No one on the front desk. Staff there did not ask my appointment time but asked some other people who had later appointments or they already knew them. I left after wasting 45 minutes. I have had great experiences before with other block offices while filing for previous years but definitely would not recommend this particular location."

"Filed tax returns ~4 weeks ago with the added tax pro help with Deanna Silvas and they didn't get back to us for almost a month despite our numerous attempts to reach them or didn't do a single thing for our tax returns. Finally get a message saying they were out of office..in the tax season..AFTER they took our case in and charged us and then went AWOL again. Called the headquarters and got transferred to Shakir Khalifa who was supposed to call us at 2 pm. Received no calls by him and when we finally called, he acted like he had no clue what was going on. He had no idea what he was talking about, very unprofessional, didn't know how to do a simple thing online and extremely difficult to communicate with due to his lack of attention (why do you have to say your driver's license number six times for somebody to get it right??). He kept making us think that he had already done everything on his end, and wanted to charge us again and more this time???!!?! And the payment department said we could skip that option since it was their fault, but when we couldn't, we requested to connect with a tier-2 person to discuss about this, who hung up on us while we were explaining the situation in the most cordial way possible? Ended up wasting the whole Sunday afternoon close to 4 hours on the phone and getting frustrated witless. Decided to request a refund and go elsewhere. Please don't get any of these people if you want your taxes to be done correctly and on time! Avoid at all costs. Worst experience ever!"
