Burgundian

"Visited on a weekend morning. Place had about half of its available seats occupied. Procedure is order at the counter and take a number to your table, food is delivered when ready. Overall the visit was good . They seem to have a "system" for staff to take orders at the counter, deliver food etc. But it makes the staff feel "detached" from the customers. An example is you get your coffee when you order, take it to a coffee station to add your own cream, sugar etc.. then later if you want a refill there seems to be no way to get one unless you get back into the ordering line and get another one ?? Not completely sure, and that's a problem, its not obvious. My wife had sweet waffles with chocolate and while the waffles are touted as the flagship meals hers were a bit underdone, again with no dedicated server getting that fixed seemed like more work than it was worth. My chicken and waffles were fine albite I could have used another coffee since I drank mine during the wait. Folks also were bussing their own tables at the end, not sure that is "required" or expected of us and it took a couple trips to do it. Not a fan of that. Again, the fact that it is not obvious how to work within their system is a problem. The environment and systems should inform you to the process to make a seamless flow. This was a learning curve with lots of guessing. I would like to try the lunch item so it is possible we would try again."

"The Burgundian is my new favorite local breakfast spot. And they do so much more than breakfast! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. They told us what their favorite menu items were and the way they described it all, we just said "We'll have that." They made it clear that if we enjoyed waffles, we owed it to ourselves to try these waffles. My wife got one with an apple compote and candied nuts. I got the Chicken & Waffles. Coming from Texas, I’ve been spoiled with the Southern fare… this blew it all out of the water. By far the best chicken & waffles I have ever had. The fried chicken was crispy, hot, moist and oh-so-flavorful. The waffle was incredible on its own, but with the mouthwatering chicken on top!? It was one of those dishes where I found myself stopping to take a deep breath and savor the moment. The cappuccino was top notch as well. I love the whole vibe. It’s clear they pride themselves on the quality of their food and drink, first and foremost, but the decor, the layout, the comfort and the local wall art... It was all just perfect. If you are looking for a cozy and satisfying breakfast spot, look no further than The Burgundian. You will not regret it. Thank you to the owners and staff for making our morning so special. We will definitely be back soon."

"The atmosphere feels a little like a food hall, with an abundance of long tables for larger parties, but it does feel a bit warmer than that thanks to the rich wood used in the table construction and the warm welcome. The bar, bartender, and deep libations list speak of a desire for more bar-side seating where adventurous drinkers and chat and discuss the nuances of what's on offer, but sadly, there are only like 3 bar seats. The beer list is serious, and the bartender knows what she's about. The food list looks great. I tried the arancini because when it's on the menu, you really have to. I was surprised to find the cores of the larger balls a bit cool in the middle. The smaller ones were fine. Would have been nice to have a second sauce to pair with them, but overall, they were good. I look forward to returning. I wish I could give 4.5 stars overall for the atmosphere deficiency mostly, but lacking that option, I must round up to 5."

"Introduced two cousins to brunch on Sunday, and they loved it as much as I do. I had the banana churro con caramel liege waffle (my favorite), one cousin had the caprese avocado toast, and the other had quiche. They then split an original liege waffle. Everything was delicious!"
