Flames

"I've been coming here for almost 4 years, the food usually has me coming back for more because of how delicious it is and I've become cool with a couple of the staff members. That being said, going there recently I've had one of the worst experiences since I started coming here. The "waiter" didn't seem very engaged with me, the airpod and lack of communication gave me everything I needed to know. The way he fixed my medium plate was very underwhelming as the portion size was very little. The cabbage I got was about 2 fork fulls, the curry chicken I had was 3 small pieces and there was very little gravy. I understand inflation, but there was no way my plate was worth 15 dollars. Not only that but the quality wasn't great either as the chicken was under-seasoned and the best thing on the plate was honestly the plantains and unfortunately they weren't that great either. I am very disappointed with my recent experience and hope that Flames does better because it is on my list of favorite places to go for food. Although at the moment, it's at the bottom of the list about to be knocked off because of the bad experience."

"I go to Flames very often because the food is delicious and authentic. My favorite dishes are jerk chicken, curry chicken, and oxtail. The portions are perfect for the price. The fried dumplings are perfectly light, flaky, with the perfect density. The chef definitely puts love into the food!"

"Every piece of meat we got was dry (jerk chicken, lemon pepper chicken, fried chicken…). I guess the food wasn’t fresh since we were having late lunch (went around 3pm). I’ve never had jerk chicken before, but pictures online didn’t show it as black as how I got it. The server packed the jerk chicken from the kitchen (not visible to customers), so I couldn’t see what I was getting. The vegetable rice was tasty."

"Fantastic food that is cooked with heart and soul. My wife had the Jerk Chicken medium sized meal. The saffron mixed rice and green beans were excellent. I had the stewed beef which had so many thick spices, it was heavenly. We got mediums and our photos are what's left After we ate! We will need to come and shoot photos before and after. The portions were huge and plentiful. Their wings kept selling out over and over while we ate. People came back the required time just to have more. The cow foot soup was creamy and so rich and thick! Their Home made sodas and beverages were exceptional. My wife Soursop drink and my pineapple ginger soda were so refreshing!! We will be back next time we want that authentic Jamaican food! The gentleman with the Good Vibes hat was thorough in explaining all of the food they had out. Each time a customer came and cashed out, he always said "Respect". He was a great role model of just that! #RockFromRI"
