The Red Parrot Restaurant

"Decided on the Red Parrot after a recommendation from a friend. We were quite happy with that decision. There are many great dining choices in Newport and Red Parrot is now on our top 5 list. Went for lunch and got the Tuna Bowl and Lobster Cheesy Fries. Both were mouthwatering. Next time have to try the Lobster Pizza! The service is good, food comes fast and hot. Great place for families."

"I highly recommend the Siam wings, lobster roll & clam chowder (though would be nice if they served it with some bread). The lobster bisque was bland and an instant regret (given the price). Attentive staff & clean restaurant."

"Upon a recommendation from a local, we stopped in after 4 PM without reservations and were seated in five minutes. Depending on where you're sitting, you may be fortunate as we were and see the harbor. Our table was near the front corner of the restaurant, and while we did have the view, the table seemed uncomfortably small even for two people. Our waitress, Maddie, was friendly, courteous, and very helpful with the menu and selections. If you're first timers like us, the menu is overwhelming with the available selections. My wife had the lobster quesadilla with a killer lobster Caribbean dip and sweet potato fries as a side. I ordered the Mediterranean Swordfish, which came with asparagus and jasmine rice. Everything came out in 15 minutes or more and presented nicely. Everything tasted great, and the Caribbean dip for the quesadillas was outstanding! My swordfish was cooked to perfection. The shrimp and scallop topper on the swordfish was equally perfect. Overall, the food and service were excellent. The reason I gave Atmosphere only four stars was that it was very loud (music) when we arrived. Parking wasn't a problem since this is off-season."

"I absolutely loved the open floor space and the bar stools. My wife and I enjoyed a seafood pizza and were very pleased. Really, it's a very nice and iconic location in newport. The menu is quite large and has a broad range of dishes. It's definitely a great place to grab a drink, a snack, or a full meal. Recommended."

"This was just okay IMO. The hostess seated us right away and we liked that we were brought upstairs. The server who helped us began our interaction by saying hello then saying we aren't her table, sorry, bye. Then she came back and was like oh well forget it I'll just help you. That was awkward and I hope it was a one off for that person and not a habit of theirs. The food was overpriced for what it was. I got a huge bowl of pasta that was mostly cheese and noodles. When we went to pay the server then informed us that there's a 3% fee for using a credit card. I've got to say, that felt a little smarmy. This is a pseudo upscale place that is clearly a tourist trap. We had to keep our day moving so we tried it, and I'm sure that's a good portion of how they get those booths full. I met a German family in CA a couple weeks ago and they were concerned that America is going cashless and they only brought cash for their trip. How interesting to go to RI and find that I am penalized for using credit. That just left a sour taste in my mouth- I have never been to a restaurant with a $75 bill and be told I have to cover the credit fee. Even gas stations just ask for a $5 minimum. Totally nuts."
