About the Business
Art Space On Main is a unique art gallery and store located at 138 West Main Street in Elkton, Maryland, United States. For over 15 years, Art Space has been a working pottery studio, member's gallery, and gift shop showcasing the work of 60 studio members. Visitors can explore the gallery and purchase one-of-a-kind handcrafted pottery pieces created by our talented artists.
Art Space offers individual and group wheel or hand-building classes, workshops, day passes, and monthly membership packages for both seasoned potters and aspiring artists. Guests are invited to take a studio tour to learn more about the clay process and witness how a hunk of mud is transformed into beautiful pottery.
In response to the ongoing Covid19 pandemic, Art Space On Main has implemented strict safety measures to protect the health and well-being of our members, students, and guests. All individuals must wear masks at all times while in the building, and all new or returning members and students must be vaccinated against Covid19 to join the studio.
We strive to provide a safe and healthy environment for our community of potters and art enthusiasts. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation, and we look forward to welcoming you to Art Space On Main soon.

"This is a great studio with a great set up. From a potters perspective, they have everything. All the equipment you could want and an overwhelming number of glazes. The people are all very friendly, including the owner and her daughter. I genuinely like coming here to make stuff. I know there are negative reviews on this page, but they are mostly about the mask policy. The owner has every right to enforce it in her own business and we all happily follow it. I have personally witnessed customers come in though and be belligerent about the policy, which is uncalled for. If you are considering whether to come in or not, I would not give any of the one star reviews any heed."
"Giving 1 star because there is no zero! I won’t be giving this company my money...EVER! They require vaccination status & masks to make pottery! People are going everywhere without masks, yet are being forced to wear one to play with clay! The pentagon dropped vaccine mandates, but this place thinks it ok to ask personal vaccine information! Who do they think they are? I happily took my $50 and walked! I hope more people do the same! Maybe when their bank account takes a hit, they’ll start using common sense!"
"I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! When I first went to Art Space on Main I had some experience with the potters wheel but after taking the initial class with Lori I learned more in that time than in the prior 18 mos. at another studio. I found Lori to be approachable, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. Yes, they are fastidious about Covid-19 rules regarding masking and cleaning after you're done. As Lori is a nurse she has a good sense of how to keep her client/students safe. Yes, they do require masks regardless of your supposed "medical conditions, natural immunity, or religious exemption". Those may be great excuses for you but not for any at-risk folks in an enclosed space as you may be an asymptomatic carrier. If you want to learn the right way to work with clay, this is the place for you."
