"Brought in ‘99 Landcruiser on Tuesday the day after Christmas because they told me they don’t take appointments-just bring the car in. Phoned 2 days later to see if car was ready and told they haven’t’ started yet. So work was started on the 3rd day and since this is my only car I had no transportation. Work to be done: install one rear sway bar link. The old one was already removed. (I brought in my own parts). All that was needed was to put on a lift and bolt new part in place at each end. Cost $110 which is their hourly labor rate. I thought it shouldn’t take an hour to hook up 2 bolts but ok. Other work was remove old timing belt, serpentine belt, water pump, idler pulley and tensioner pulley and also the starter. Also put in new spark plugs. I realize the starter sits under the intake manifold and that must come off and it is not an easy job. I supplied all parts including new manifold gaskets and starter with solenoid. I picked up car and at home looked under the hood. Now I had looked online to see how this work gets done and it is difficult to access the these parts. Some people take out the radiator, others literally crawl on top of the engine to access some parts. My car had 5 broken/missing brackets that connect the front grill to the frame of the car. The left, right, center connections and a main U shaped bracket that had bolts at the u part that connected to the grill and a metal tail at the bottom of the u where another bolt connected to the frame would be. To me, it appeared that the mechanic climbed into the engine compartment and broke these connections while trying to access other parts. They jury rigged some flexible plastic type like product to make some reconnections. Final review: ask before turning in the car how long the job will take and be careful how they access the engine. I did not go back and complain because I am sure I would be the standard answer “the car came in that way”"
