Charcoal Pit

"Drove here to try out their classic charcoal style burgers. Beef was very fresh and cooked just right. My only thing is that I didn't really detect any smoke or grilled flavor so not sure if it's really charcoal grilled. My friend got the onion rings and I was very impressed. The onions were thick and sweet but soft. Usually places that do thick cut you take a bite and you pull out the whole onion off the batter. This bit through and let's you enjoy the onion in every bite. The batter is thick but not over seasoned. Just the right amount. The chili reminds me of my local hot dog spot Rutt's Hutt in Clifton,NJ. Simple ground beef and pinto. I got a cheese hot dog to go with it. I ordered the orange float to go. They add orange syrup to give it that extra orange taste. I enjoyed it. This was about an half hour out of the way back for us from National Harbor. It's worth checking out for the old diner atmosphere."

"We heard a lot about this old burger place and gave it a try today when we were in the area. Its very interesting with those old jukeboxes on every table. The drinks are amazing, we highly recommend the orange creamsicle and root beer float. Milkshake was good too. Food wise we had the bison burger and the special flip and dip. Both were amazing and came with fries. Coleslaw was amazing. Hotdog was nothing special. As for the service, our waitress was amazing and sweetest lady. For the bison burger we asked for medium rare and it came dripping blood. We said nothing until our waitress came and asked how was everything and we said everything was great except that the bison burger was more of a rare that i had to put a tissue to absorb the blood in the plate so it wont make my fries bloody and she saw that in my plate. She apologized sincerely and asked if we want to put another order and we thanked her and said no since we were almost full. She called the manager and the manager was condescending when attempting to explain what medium rare is … Implying that we didn’t know what we ordered. The burger was clearly rare with taste of blood versus medium rare. Giving 4 star because the food deserving. But if rating based on manager interaction would give 2 star or less."

"Charcoal Pit located at 2600 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 is the best Burger place I’ve ever been to. Legendary for its charcoal grilled burgers made with really quality meat - and the taste is what it’s all about! They also have really good shakes and fries/onion rings. Worth traveling to!"

"OG place to get burgers, dogs, steaks and shakes. Never had anything bad. The two hot dog special is funny because both are on one large bun!! Awesome."
