"I had my first visit over a week ago, with Raul. During the visit he his phone rang and he answered it, during the session. He then told me someone would contact me to schedule a second session with a different therapist so I could decide who I connected best with. I have yet to hear from anyone. As someone who actually reached out for help, it doesn’t help when you are not responsive to people who actually need it."

"While every therapist I spoke with here was *very* nice - I brought my son here twice, and they did not follow up with me after either visit. I felt like this would be a helpful office after our intake so I called after a week and a half of not hearing back, got another appointment with a different counselor specializing in children’s services, had another helpful appointment I felt would be pointing us in the right direction - they told me they would get back to me within a week - for reference that was before Christmas. I called and was told someone would call me back and they never did. Not great to seek help and be dismissed after going into an office."

"Please do not take the negative reviews seriously and pass on this great counseling experience. My wife and I got off track a bit with our marriage and were headed for divorce. I made several phone calls to counselors in the New Haven Area and I only received a return phone call from Dr. Avila's Office. After about a half-dozen sessions, issue were brought to the forefront and immediate corrections were made. My wife and I are very happy again. Dr Avila is an excellent listener. He remained neutral when dealing with my wife and I. He gave excellent advice and supplied us with some new techniques to help strengthen our relationship and marriage. Most-importantly, Dr. Avila is very compassionate and I credit him for helping us save our marriage."

"Do not go here for therapy. The building is dead and sketchy, it feels as though you're the only one there. The therapist I saw seemed to not care about anything that I said, the session never seemed rushed and like they wanted me out of there as soon as possible. He also seemed to talk about himself more than what I needed to talk about and get off my chest. Yes, he was very nice and could be helpful but I'm not fully convinced he is a real therapist with experience working with people with mental illness. Additionally, the receptionist didn't let me pick a day that I was most available on because she did not want to be there so late. When I cancelled my appointment, she just said "okay" and hung up on me, I never got any confirmation that my personal information will be shredded or an apology for their bad service."
