"Love the purpose of this practice!!! They truly care about the children and seek to help parents during difficult times."
"I too have experienced and still experiencing bias with one of the therapist that sees my daughter. I was a stay at home dad 5 1/2 years and, since been gone from the home over two years and somehow I am solely responsible for why my child is seeing a therapist not due to her mother's choice to let one guy have our child shock her tongue with a 9v to a child predator with the most recent arrest for stalking a dcf worker."
"Heather is a dedicated, compassionate therapist and she and her team work hard to help individuals of all ages who have experienced trauma. They provide exceptional and comprehensive treatment to their clients."
"part 1 My son and I have been seeing Dr. Brone for over 3 months. Therapy was suggested through the court due to reunification. CT kids Matter nor Dr. Brone were “not” my choice. It was the mother of my child pick. I had recommended 3 therapists with over 30yrs experience specifically in reunification field. Note: These 3 therapists was also approved with the state of Connecticut Judicial Branch Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) website for minor children. But she wasn't interested in any suggestions from me even though the court order said we both need to agree. She continued to give me a hard time. This went on for almost 2 months, so I finally gave in to CT Kids Matter and Dr. Brone to get the process moving. "I just wanted to see my son." Unfortunately this was the worst decision. Respectfully Dr. Brone may have degrees and some experience, but he is not suited to deal with our situation. As a therapist especially in this situation you're not supposed express bias and you're always to stay neutral. Dr. Brone has express his bias and hasn't been neutral in quite a few therapy sessions in front my young son and his mother. One of the reasons why this has happened is because respectfully Dr. Brone is a poor listener. He continues to believe my present frustration is about the past with the mother of my child. This absolutely is not the case. Yes I am bothered by the past but when I enter that therapy room my focus is building my relationship with my son. There had been discussions that had carried over to our past but that was only because I had legitimate concerns about my son well being. When I voice these concerns to the Dr. Brone he only focused on our past and not the present. Here are examples below. 1. Presently my 5-yr-old son is being allowed to watch R-Rated shows and movies like Power and Deadpool. My son has reference scenes from these films, "Tommy killed a girl and Ghost is his friend." "Deadpool kills and chops off heads." Of course, I expressed my concerns as a parent about how inappropriate these films are to a young child but someway somehow Dr. Brone made it about my resentment. In within the same therapy session the mother of my child said, "She will continue to let my son watch what he wants." Having concerns about films that includes violence and sex that my son is watching has nothing to do with yesterday but more like today. 2. During a scheduled outside meeting with my son at a local mall. The mother of my child interrupted my time with my son to make a false allegation. This was completely inappropriate in public and in front of my son. The mother also brought her daughter to the meeting to record and take pictures of the incident. This stunt was obviously premeditated because our upcoming custody hearing. She was well aware from the previous court hearing that my attorney would be pushing for unsupervised visits for the upcoming court date. Keep in mind that Dr. Brone has allowed the mother of my child 16 yrs. old daughter to be present in two of our therapy sessions without my consent. After this incident I texted the mother of my child saying "If you have something to say to me that will be inappropriate or cause tension please reframe from doing that around my son." Note the both us took a 8hr Co-parenting course and the instructed emphasize throughout the entire class "keep children out of parental conflict, don't involve children in communication between parents, focus on your child's experience during time with the other parent." Continuing, I also decided to take a different creative approach in explaining the incident to Dr. Brone because every time I've voiced my concerns in therapy he makes it about my past resentment. So I wrote Dr. Brone respectful two-page letter explaining the mall incident to avoid conflict. Dr. Brone ignored the importance to keep children out of parental conflict. He focused on resentment. This was nothing to do with resentment and everything to do with the mother of my child interrupting my alone time in a public setting and creating conflict in front of my son."
