Fred Astaire Dance Studio - Mamaroneck

"We decided to sign up for the teaser private beginner dance classes to get ready for a wedding we were attending a few months in the future. We had so much fun, we purchased a package of privates, and then another of groups! We didn;t want, or need, to learn a specific dance - although we have seen other couples having fun learning and choreographing their "wedding dance" - we wanted to learn how "to dance." Our main instructor Scott has been exceptional - helping us with general dance concepts, and then incorporating those in to specific songs we were interested in, with the right amount of patience, humor, and encouragement. He has no hesitation to bring in another of the instructors to demonstrate something, or to just have one of us dance with someone else. Between the privates and the groupls, we have danced with Scott, Tracy, & Stanley (who is the owner) - each has been encouraging and each brings their own style of teaching and dancing. We have been exposed to waltz, rumba, salsa, foxtrot, cha cha, and various swings - while we have avoided the tango, many people there are learning to tango. Side benefits - clients are allowed to come in and practice any time on their own, and they periodically host "dance parties" where you can "get out of the swimming lessons and in to the pool!" Highly recommend this place - far more fun than we ever anticipated!"
