"Bedding through town this weekend and came her for dinner the place was packed as they were hosting a veterans fund raiser so kudos for that. Restaurant is quite large and the sound is room in their loft upstairs. BBQ nachos were excellent. We also shared a salad and fried chicken. Salad was good and while the chicken was cooked perfectly the breading lacked flavor. In hindsight some of their BBQ sauce would have been tasty on it. Mashed potatoes were obviously from a box. I see other reviews a bit negative on the food. Not hating it but not meeting expectation. So, it's good just not great."

"It was a slower night, I'd say. The food was cooked and prepared well but lacked in overall flavor. The rants and raves about this place are what lead us here and were kind of a letdown. We sampled a bit from around the whole menu, and it all kind of just had the constant taste that just left you wanting more from each bite. Service was good and stayed up on drinks and made some good suggestions in items to try from the bar. Overall, it's a beautiful spot."

"I've heard about this place for a while, it's certainly a beautiful building inside and the outdoor seating is great, however, the food left much to be desired. Our service was great. The fried green tomatoes and the cornbread they bring out were excellent, and my fiance enjoyed the jambalaya. Unfortunately, I ordered a brisket sandwich, bit into it, and had to immediately spit it out as it was completely fat and gristle, completely inedible. I had added the "watermelon salad" ($8.95) listed in the sides with my meal, and the server brought it instead of my fries, it was slimy cut up watermelon, some pieces were completely pay their prime, with nothing else added, and barely bigger than the ranch dip cup. When my fries finally came, there was no wrapper in the container and it was set directly on the table. I'm not a fan of shoestring fries, but I couldn't even try to like them they were so incredibly greasy and oil saturated. I'm hesitant to return and try anything else after this experience."

"I 'really' wanted to love this eating establishment this time around but, as was the case last time I was here, I left profoundly disappointed with my meal. It's been HOT, humid, and rainy in the Hudson Valley these past few days, so we decided to enjoy a waterside meal on this relatively sunny Saturday... and where better for atmosphere than Ole Savannah... seated outside on the deck overlooking the Roundout channel. The views were great, and the service among the best I've experienced in a while, but the food was truly miserable. The corn fritters had no visible corn and no real corn taste, and the portion of maple syrup was laughably tiny. My lunch, the brisket sandwich, had a nice side salad and the presentation was nice, but the meat itself was SO fatty and SO chewy that most couldn't be eaten and had to be left chewed on the plate (embarrassing). The waitress was kind enough to offer a different meal but, having to catch the tour boat, I declined. Ole Savannah, I really want to like you but, the last few times, only the service and view were outstanding... not the food."
