About the Business
Welcome to Lyttelton Street Playcentre in Christchurch, New Zealand! We are a unique early childhood education institution where both children and their parents or caregivers attend. At Playcentre, children have the opportunity to learn and explore in a fun and safe environment.
We believe in nurturing the curiosity and creativity of our tamariki (children) in a way that allows them to learn about themselves and the world around them. Your child will have the chance to engage in a variety of activities such as exploring, creating, climbing, reading, singing, experimenting, playing music, dressing up in costumes, face painting, gardening, carpentry with real tools, baking and cooking, building sandcastles, swinging, sliding, dancing, spending time in nature, and getting messy.
Every day at Playcentre brings new and exciting activities. Our parents bring a diverse range of skills, interests, and cultural backgrounds, which contribute to the rich learning environment we provide. We welcome families with children aged 0-6 years, and our mixed-age play allows children to interact with others who are both older and younger than themselves. This enables preschoolers to develop communication, sharing, and negotiation skills with empathy for their younger peers.
Playcentre is not just a place for children to learn and grow; it is also a place where families come together and lifelong friendships are formed. We encourage you to visit us at any time during the year. As a new visitor, you are entitled to three free visits, so come and see what we do. We would love to meet you and your family!
