Welcome to Hamilton Sexual Health, a specialist clinic located in Hamilton, New Zealand. Our clinic is dedicated to providing free and confidential sexual health services for individuals living in the Waikato region. We understand the importance of non-judging compassionate care, as we recognize that STI and HIV-related stigma can have detrimental effects. Our goal is to make it easier for you to seek help and receive the care you need.

At Hamilton Sexual Health, we offer a wide range of services related to STIs, HIV, and other sexual health issues. Our clinic works closely with Waikato Hospital's infectious disease team, particularly in the management of HIV patients. Additionally, we prioritize the support and education of other healthcare providers, which means that doctors and nurses may occasionally attend our clinic for training purposes. However, we will always seek your permission before allowing them to participate in your visit.

Please note that we do not provide regular contraceptive services or sexual dysfunction services such as prescribing for erectile dysfunction. We recommend consulting your GP or primary care provider, such as Family Planning, for these specific needs.

For individuals who would like to get tested for common STIs (chlamydia, gonorrhea, or trichomonas), we offer Free Accurate Self Testing (FAST) without the need to see a doctor or nurse. Simply visit our clinic and inquire about this service.

The best part? Our services are completely free of charge. We believe that everyone deserves access to quality sexual health care, regardless of their financial situation.

Hamilton Sexual Health is led by Dr. Karen Benattar, a specialist sexual health physician. We are proud to be brought to you by the Sexually Transmitted Infections Education Foundation (STIEF), which is funded by the Ministry of Health and District Health Boards to educate New Zealanders about STIs.

We also want to highlight the work of Gender Minorities Aotearoa, a nationwide organization run by transgender individuals for transgender individuals, including takataapui, intersex, and non-binary individuals. We provide gender-affirming care in the Waikato District Health Board area.

While certain services, such as top surgery (mastectomy), are temporarily unavailable, we hope to offer them in the near future. Bottom surgery (vaginoplasty and phalloplasty) is available through the High Cost Treatment Pool, with surgeries performed in Auckland. However, please be aware that there is currently a long waitlist for this particular service.
