About the Business
Welcome to Clunes Caravan Park, located in the heart of the Gold Fields in Australia. This campground offers a unique experience, as it is situated in a town where gold was first discovered in Victoria during the famous Goldrush in the mid-1800s. Clunes itself is a charming and historic town, with its ancient buildings and picturesque gardens.
Surrounded by other historical towns such as Maryborough and Ballarat, both just a short 30-minute drive away, as well as Bendigo within an hour and Melbourne within two hours, Clunes Caravan Park is the perfect base for exploring the rich history of the region. There are numerous historical mining towns in the area, each with its own fascinating stories, as well as farmers markets, antique markets, swap meets, and specialty shops to discover.
However, if you prefer a more relaxed and peaceful getaway, Clunes Caravan Park offers a tranquil setting alongside the beautiful Creswick Creek. You can unwind under the shade of the park's huge Elm trees, enjoy the green lawns and lovely gardens, and listen to the melodies of the local birdlife. If you're lucky and patient, you might even spot a Platypus in the creek. Just across the street, you can grab a coffee and explore the treasure shops, including the renowned "Timeless Harmony Treasures" run by Marie. And don't forget to end your day with a delicious meal at one of the nearby restaurants such as "Rose & Oak," "Criterion," or the "National Hotel."
There is a wide range of activities and attractions to keep you entertained during your stay. From attending the famous Ballarat swap meets and the annual Book Town event to exploring the historic townships and visiting popular destinations like Sovereign Hill and Daylesford Markets, there is something for everyone. For those seeking adventure, you can try your luck at gold detecting and prospecting, or enjoy bird watching, fishing, walking, hiking, and biking in the nearby State Forest. The park also offers facilities for bowls, tennis, golf, swimming, cricket, and AFL, ensuring there is never a dull moment.
Clunes Caravan Park is run by the friendly and welcoming Russell family, including hosts Matt and Dee, their sons Joshua and Jacob, and their dog Rusty. They are eager to provide you with a memorable stay and look forward to welcoming you to their park. So pack up your family, including your furry friends, and all your favorite recreational equipment, and come experience the rich history and natural beauty of Clunes Caravan Park.
Reviews
"Great service and great location and pet friendly, staff are very friendly. Nice and quiet, and the amenities are great. Fantastic camp kitchen"
"Great little park, clean facilities and easy to talk to residents. Great spot to set up for touring the area."
"We had a lovely stay in our caravan at Clunes Caravan Park. We found the amenities and camp kitchen very clean, the grounds well maintained and the service very friendly. Being pet friendly it was an ideal place to stay with our dog as there is a walking track easily accessed from the park which incidentally has historical information about the area along it, and there are multiple walking exits from the park itself. As the park is just behind the main street shopping and eating out is also readily walkable (eating out Wed- Sun only). Thank you to all at Clunes Caravan Park for a most enjoyable stay."
"What a great little caravan park and amazing management. My tent was broken so i booked a cabin. Love the extra little touches and the history all through the cabin. Fantastic place i cant wait to come back."
