Welcome to Discovery Kindergarten, located in the beautiful city of Wellington, Porirua, New Zealand. At our establishment, we are dedicated to fostering a love of learning in an inclusive environment. Family, community, and reciprocal relationships are highly valued at Discovery Kindergarten. We understand the importance of children and their whānau, and we strive to develop strong relationships with families in order to support their aspirations for their children. Our ultimate goal is to nurture self-motivated, caring, and life-long learners.

As a well-resourced kindergarten, we provide a wide range of equipment and resources to enhance learning in all curriculum areas. We have a close relationship with Discovery School and maintain regular visits, as well as strong links to other surrounding schools.

Our curriculum is driven by the interests of the children. Our dedicated teaching team works diligently to identify these interests and provide appropriate resources and engaging conversations to extend their learning and deepen their understanding. This is reflected in our planning wall, which showcases the ongoing development of our students.

To keep parents and whānau involved in their children's learning journey, we use Storypark, an online portfolio system. Through this platform, we share stories and updates about the children's progress. Additionally, profile books are available for children and their whānau to read, providing a tangible way to reflect on their growth.

For our oldest children, we offer Ngahere Tamariki, our Bush Kindergarten Programme. Once a week, a small group of children take charge of their learning in the great outdoors. They have the opportunity to explore, climb, slide, play, read, listen, and create in our stunning and enriching natural environment.

At Discovery Kindergarten, we are proud to have a team of five qualified, registered teachers who are passionate about early childhood education. Children can join us from as young as two years of age, depending on availability.
