Welcome to Tec-NQ, an institution located at 54 Discovery Drive in Douglas, Australia. As an establishment, point of interest, and school, Tec-NQ offers nationally recognized trade qualifications delivered by professional trade trainers. We pride ourselves on doing things differently, combining academic studies with vocational pathways and hands-on practical learning.

At Tec-NQ, we understand the importance of helping students explore their career aspirations. Our senior school students in year 10 have the unique opportunity to "try all trades," allowing them to identify where their interests lie. In years 11 and 12, we offer career-specific pathways that provide both academic and vocational outcomes, supported by work placements in industry. These work placements, lasting up to 13 weeks in year 11 and up to 23 weeks in year 12, are key to our students' successful transition from school to work.

By gaining real-world experience without compromising their academic studies, Tec-NQ students truly get the best of both worlds. Our passionate and experienced trade-qualified facilitators ensure that our students receive the highest quality education and forge lifelong networks.

We are excited to announce the appointment of Ross Jorgensen as our new CEO, who will lead Tec-NQ into its next phase of growth. This appointment follows the departure of our previous CEO, Julie Hyde.

In addition to our commitment to education and training, Tec-NQ is actively involved in the community. We organize exciting events in Cairns, such as the recent milestone celebration in June 2023 and an upcoming all-ages community event on August 19.

Whether your passion lies in light vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles, plant equipment, engineering, electrical work, or plumbing, Tec-NQ offers a wide range of training options to suit your apprenticeship needs. Our qualifications cover areas such as boilermaking, fitting and turning, sheet metal fabrication, diesel fitting, electrical work, and plumbing.
