Canterbury Early Learning Centre

Welcome to Canterbury Early Learning Centre, located in the beautiful suburb of Waterford, Easterly Street, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest in the area, we take pride in offering a supportive and stimulating early learning education to our families.

At Canterbury, we have highly qualified teachers who create vibrant and well-resourced classrooms, along with engaging outdoor spaces. Our goal is to encourage our children to question, discover, problem-solve, and create as they explore their world, all while developing a strong sense of belonging.

We firmly believe in inspiring a culture of curiosity, exploration, and exchange of ideas, interests, wonderings, feelings, and questions. We delight in celebrating individual perspectives and fostering a love for learning in each child.

Our Pre-Kindy and Kindy Rooms provide Long Day Care from 6:45am to 6:00pm, ensuring convenience for our families. These services are included in our all-inclusive daily rates.

Throughout the year, our Early Learning Centre students participate in a variety of engaging events and activities. Some of these events take place within the ELC, while others are in collaboration with the wider Canterbury Junior School. Our calendar includes events such as Life Education Van, Under 8s Day, Grandparents’ Day, Easter Hat Parade, Multicultural Day, Book Week, as well as our Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations.

At Canterbury, we highly value the partnership between the college, parents, and carers. We offer numerous opportunities for parents to participate in their children’s learning, either in the classroom or at various events.

In addition, we have an annual Single Resource Charge (SRC) of $88.00, which helps us maintain our exceptional facilities and resources.

Each of our Pre-Kindy and Kindy rooms has been named after birds found in our community, using the Yugambeh language. We have the Mibunns (eagles), Kagarus (kookaburras), Bilins (parrots), Geiras (cockatoos), and Booanguns (curlews). The curlews hold a special place in our college's identity, as they return every year to our campus to hatch their young. These birds serve as a metaphor for our children's learning, symbolizing their growth and exploration of the environment.

It's important to note that Canterbury College is situated on Mununjali and Gugingin Country, which are two of the nine clans of the Yugambeh people. These clans have nurtured the land around the Logan, Albert, Coomera, and Nerang Rivers for thousands of years. We pay our respects to their ancestors and descendants, who continue to maintain cultural and spiritual connections to Country.
