Welcome to The Friends' School - Clemes, a prestigious institution located in North Hobart, Australia. As the senior secondary campus of The Friends' School, Clemes is dedicated to providing a holistic education for students in Years 11 and 12.
Named after the School's founding Principal, Samuel Clemes, our campus on Argyle Street is home to approximately 300 students. At Clemes, we believe in developing the whole person and instilling in our students a sense of purpose and a willingness to contribute to something greater than themselves.
Our philosophy revolves around three key areas: Action, Creativity, and Service. Through a diverse range of co-curricular activities, including sports, student-led committees, social functions, and service opportunities, students can earn the prestigious Clemes Certificate. Our aim is for students to leave Clemes with a deep understanding and empathy for the Quaker testimonies of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship.
The Pastoral Care program at Clemes is centered around Tutor Groups, which provide comprehensive support to students in all aspects of their development. Our dedicated tutors oversee the learning partnership between the School, students, and families. Additionally, students benefit from a structured program of assemblies featuring guest speakers on topics relevant to young adults, and Gatherings provide a space for regular reflection using Quaker practices.
To facilitate a smooth transition into young adulthood, Clemes offers a range of support options for students. Our study skills program helps students develop effective learning strategies, while wellbeing offerings such as yoga, personal fitness, and adventure education courses promote physical and mental wellness. We also provide dedicated services for pathway planning, counseling, and access to an onsite educational psychologist.
At Clemes, we encourage and nurture student leadership. Our student council hosts a variety of initiatives that reinforce the sense of community, promote student wellbeing, and raise funds and awareness for charities.
