Geelong West Kindergarten

Welcome to Geelong West Kindergarten, located at 48 O'Connell Street in Geelong West, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, our institution is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where your child's love for life, learning, and discovery is encouraged and instilled.

At Geelong West Kindergarten, we believe in the power of play-based programs to lay the foundations for each child's development into socially competent and dynamic learners. Our goal is to foster positive attitudes towards learning and equip children with the necessary skills to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

We offer small 3-year-old kindergarten classes ranging between 5 and 14.5 hours per week. Led by university qualified early childhood teachers, our classes are fully subsidized by the Victorian Government. With a focus on individualized attention and holistic growth, we ensure that each child receives the support they need to thrive.

Our institution offers three kindergarten programs, all of which provide 15 hours of funded kindergarten per week. These programs are run by a university qualified early childhood teacher and co-workers with diplomas or Cert III qualifications. We believe in the importance of a well-rounded education and strive to create a stimulating and enriching environment for all our students.

Established in 1922, Geelong West Kindergarten holds the honor of being Geelong's oldest kindergarten. The decision to build a Free Kindergarten for Geelong West residents was made in 1921, with four blocks of land on O'Connell Street being purchased for this purpose. Over the years, our institution has grown and expanded, with additional rooms being added in the 1980s and an expansion of the Rainbow Room in 2013.

While our history is rich, we are committed to staying current and providing the best educational experience for our students. That's why we organize events such as evenings with experts like Ellie Hutcheon, a Psychologist from the School Readiness Team at Barwon Health, who shares valuable insights with our community.

At Geelong West Kindergarten, we understand that kindergarten is a child's first taste of formal education. That's why we strive to create an environment where children feel like learning is fun, engaging, and exciting. We want to set children up for a lifetime of learning and success.
