About the Business
Welcome to the Australian Barista School Newcastle, located at 376 Hunter Street. As an establishment and point of interest, we are proud to offer top-notch coffee training and classes to aspiring baristas in Newcastle and surrounding areas.
What sets us apart from other institutions is our commitment to providing a personalized learning experience. Unlike other schools, every student at the Australian Barista School Newcastle gets their own steam wand and group handle for the day, eliminating any waiting time. With one trainer for every six students, you can be assured of receiving individual attention and guidance throughout your training.
Our flagship course, the 3-hour barista experience, is designed for beginners with no prior experience. You will learn how to use a coffee machine from scratch and leave with the knowledge and skills to create delicious espresso beverages. But if you are serious about pursuing a career as a barista, we highly recommend our 5-hour barista course. This course is nationally recognized and includes 2 hours of coffee art training. Upon completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment bearing the units of competency SITHFAB025 Prepare and serve espresso coffee and SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety. This certification is issued by CBD College, a nationally recognized registered training organization (RTO# 91399).
For your convenience, our courses can be completed in one day or split over separate days, allowing you to choose a schedule that suits you best. We also offer package deals that combine barista training with RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) and RCG (Responsible Conduct of Gambling) certifications in Sydney and Newcastle, increasing your job prospects in the hospitality industry.
Don't just take our word for it, hear what our students have to say. Khile K. describes our classes as "fun" with a "friendly teacher" and a "comfortable teaching environment." Maria L. expresses her gratitude for our trainers who expanded her knowledge and appreciation of the craft of coffee making.
The Australian Barista School is a trusted name in the coffee industry, with locations in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle, and Brisbane. Our team consists of passionate coffee industry professionals with over 60 years of combined experience. We have owned roasters and espresso bars, making us specialists in the modern way of making coffee.
If you're ready to embark on a journey to become a skilled barista, join us at the Australian Barista School Newcastle. Visit our website or give us a call to book your spot in one of our courses. We look forward to helping you achieve your coffee dreams.

Reviews
"Was such a lovely and immersive experience, catered to us individually which I definitely appreciated and will recommend to my friends to try this out too!"
"I would definitely recommend taking the Barista course out of the Newcastle location. I learnt so much, it was fun and our trainer, Matt was amazing. He explained everything so simply and was so down to earth. I was really happy with the limit on the numbers, as I received enough learning & practice time. Had fun and learnt. Thanks Matt!"
"Great learning experience! Matt keeps the energy of the class high and has noticeable knowledge in the matter. Sky was also really helpful and friendly. I highly recommend the course to anybody who wants to become a Barista or just learn about it. You get a lot of practice, you will probably make around 50 or more coffee during the time you are there. (I did both classes)"
"Matt was fantastic! There’s a bunch of really useful takeaways I took from todays sessions that make me more confident with making coffees, maintaining better hygiene and serving customers. Thanks Matt and CBD team."
