Welcome to Mrs Owens Lofts, located at 101 Maitland Road in Islington, Australia. The Owens Collective, our establishment, is a point of interest that has transformed the former bustling food co-op into a new hub of opportunity in Newcastle. Inspired by the legacy of Islington grocer R. J. Owens, we have redesigned this commercial and warehouse space into a suite of unique commercial and residential spaces.
In 2020, we embarked on an ambitious renovation project, upgrading the commercial spaces to include a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen. Additionally, we have added Mrs Owens Lofts, which are available for short-term stays, allowing guests to experience the charm of our establishment. To enhance the experience of our guests, we have also introduced a magnificent rooftop pool, providing a perfect spot to relax and unwind.
At Mrs Owens Lofts, sustainability is a core value. We have taken great care to recycle the 100-year-old timber boards that Tess, our founder, once walked on. We have also incorporated beautiful pressed metal ceilings from the original co-op shop front, as well as many other original materials, giving our spaces a unique industrial vibe.
The Owens Collective offers a range of commercial and residential spaces for lease, catering to a variety of needs. In addition, we have a multipurpose warehouse space that is perfect for hosting a wide range of events, including corporate off-sites, seminars, workshops, board meetings, photo-shoots, videography, and special laneway events and markets.
