Led by Dr Hinton, a highly experienced and esteemed psychiatrist, our facility offers a range of services to address various mental health concerns. Dr Hinton has been serving the Belmont community since 2011 and has recently relocated to our brand new purpose-built facility.

With over 19 years of experience in psychiatry, Dr Hinton is a trusted expert in his field. He completed his medical degree in Manchester, England and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He is also a Member of The Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK. Dr Hinton's dedication to his profession is evident in his recent completion of advanced training in psychotherapy.

Dr Hinton's expertise spans across different areas of psychiatry, including acute, rehabilitation, substance abuse, and forensic psychiatry. He is well-versed in assessing and treating a wide range of conditions such as anxiety and mood disorders, psychosis, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), personality disorders, and substance abuse. Our institution welcomes referrals for the treatment of any adult psychiatric disorder.

In addition to his comprehensive psychiatric services, Dr Hinton also provides psychotherapy. This holistic approach allows for a more personalized and integrated treatment plan, addressing both the biological and psychological aspects of mental health.

Prior to establishing Newcastle Psychiatry, Dr Hinton has worked as a staff specialist psychiatrist for the Lake Macquarie Mental Health Service based at Charlestown and Warners Bay Private Hospital. He has also served as a staff specialist for Hunter New England Health at Morisset Hospital. This diverse background has equipped him with a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the unique needs of his patients.
