EV Dance Studios

EV Dance Studios is a dedicated Adult Dance studio located in Islington, Newcastle NSW. Our studio is specially designed for adults and older learners who have a passion for dance. With a current focus on Classical Ballet, our classes are designed to improve mobility, posture, co-ordination, and energy levels.

At EV Dance Studios, we believe that Ballet and Dance are not only great for physical fitness but also for socializing and meeting new people. Our studio provides a welcoming and inclusive environment where you can connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion and joy for life.

Our founder, Alice, has a wealth of experience in the dance industry. Born in the UK, she started dancing at the age of 3 and went on to study at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Ballet School in London. After receiving her Bachelors degree in Ballet Education from the Royal Academy of Dance, Alice traveled the world before settling in Australia to pursue her career as a dance teacher. She is highly qualified and experienced, entering students for examinations, teaching workshops and recreational classes, and creating solos and troupes for eisteddfods.

Courtney, another talented teacher at EV Dance Studios, is a Newcastle local with a lifelong passion for dance. Having started dancing at a young age, she has competed in various competitions and completed advanced exams in RAD and LGTDA Tap. Courtney loves to perform and has traveled extensively as a working professional. She now shares her passion for dance through teaching and enjoys building strong relationships with her students.

In addition to ballet, we also offer yoga classes taught by Madalen, a veterinarian with 28 years of experience. Madalen initially started practicing yoga to improve her movement and flexibility and to maintain a calm mental state for her demanding job. Her classes are based on the Ashtanga style and aim to nourish the mind and body. Madalen believes in tailoring the practice to suit the needs and abilities of her students and incorporates movement challenges specific to each individual. She also incorporates brief meditations at the end of each class to reward the body for its hard work.

At EV Dance Studios, we offer a range of classes to suit all ages and abilities. Our ballet classes are structured to cater to each individual's body and needs, and we also offer Silver Swans classes specifically designed for participants over 55. We are excited to announce that we now provide exam classes, giving everyone the opportunity to showcase their skills. These classes focus on the syllabus from the Royal Academy of Dance, and you can choose to perform in a live examination or complete a filmed entry.

For those who have always dreamt of dancing on pointe, we offer pointe shoe classes as part of our weekly timetable. This class is a great opportunity to tick that box off your bucket list. We also offer private lessons for one-on-one sessions to further develop your technique. These sessions are tailored to your specific goals and allow you to work at your own pace and schedule.

In addition to ballet and yoga, we also offer Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) classes. This unique training system uses ballet-specific exercises to enhance students' technique and improve muscle memory required in all forms of dance.

If you're looking for stress relief and mindfulness, join Madalen for Ashtanga Yoga classes. This ancient practice is known for its ability to help approach daily stressors and promote a calm and balanced state of mind. These classes are suitable for all levels, and everyone is welcome to join.

For pregnant individuals and new mothers, we offer a special class aimed at exercising in a safe and fun environment. This class is designed to support and nurture your body during this special time.
