About the Business

Welcome to Canoe the Coorong, your gateway to exploring the stunning Coorong Wetlands in South Australia. Located just 85 km south of Adelaide, the Coorong Wetlands is an internationally recognized destination that showcases one of Australia's best-kept secrets.
Stretching over 140 kilometers, the Coorong National Park is home to a series of breathtaking saltwater lagoons, nestled between the rolling sand dunes of the Young Husband Peninsula. This pristine natural environment is a haven for wildlife and offers visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in its beauty.
At Canoe the Coorong, we believe that kayaking is the most enjoyable and sustainable way to experience the Coorong. It allows you to have an intimate encounter with the wildlife and explore the waterways without impacting the delicate ecosystem. Our guided kayaking tours cater to people of all ages and skill levels, ensuring that everyone can enjoy this extraordinary adventure.
Some of our popular tours include the Coorong Sunset Tour, where you can witness the mesmerizing beauty of the Murray Mouth as the sun sets over the lagoons. For those seeking a more immersive experience, our full-day all-inclusive Coorong Tour is the perfect choice. This comprehensive tour includes a 'bush tucker' walk through the sand dunes, cockle catching and cooking lessons, and the opportunity to witness the diverse wildlife that calls the Coorong home.
If you're looking for a unique and exclusive experience, you can also book out Canoe the Coorong for the day and enjoy tailor-made tours such as bird watching tours or corporate team building activities. We also offer kayak hire for those who prefer to explore at their own pace.
Not only do we provide unforgettable experiences, but we also prioritize the conservation of the Coorong. Our guide, Brenton Carle, is a Flinders University Eco Tourism graduate with years of experience in the Coorong. We take pride in our conservation efforts to preserve the Coorong for future generations to enjoy.
As a Tourism Australia Accredited Business, we guarantee an authentic and eco-friendly experience. Reviews
"3rd time I’ve done this trip Just LOVE it !! Being so close to nature Winter this time, the best for seeing seals frolic and play for us up close. Not cold at all !! Hot chocolate, biscuit, cooked fish salad roll cooked on beach. So simple, but the best Thanks Tom for an awesome experience. Can’t wait to do the sunset tour one day."
"We had a great winter kayak tour with our guide Tom. As the wind was strong, the itinerary had to be changed, and we paddled out to the seals at the barrage lock. We were able to get quite close and watch them, before coming back for fresh fish burgers. We definitely recommend a trip with Canoe the Coorong."
"There is something very special about watching the sunset from the sand dunes of the Coorong. There is the stillness that comes from the sounds of nature, broken only by the soft voice of the guide sharing aspects of the history of the setting and locally sourced produce, as well as introducing us to edible berries of the native flora. We were a small group and the air was cool, so I couldn't have hoped for a more ideal afternoon! Highly recommended for those who want a reprieve from their usual habitat! It was a delight to meet our young guide Sarah and the difference in our ages disappeared in a second. What an incredible young woman. Special thanks to Brenton for enabling us to rebook when a family member had a fall and was transported to the ED."
"Canoe the Coorong was such a great experience, the guide, Tom was very accommodating and made changes to our itinerary as needed. He was very knowledgable about the local history and culture."
"Was a great tour! The guide knew their stuff and did a good job with information and maintaining interest while also allowing plenty of time to just enjoy the paddle. Equipment was all in good condition and clean. The cooked lunch was a highlight with some very nicely done local fish."
