About the Business
Welcome to Snow Concert Hall, a world-class music performance venue located in Red Hill, Monaro Crescent, Australia. Nestled within the stunning campus of Canberra Grammar School, this establishment is a true gem for music lovers and enthusiasts alike.
Thanks to an extraordinary gift from CGS Alumnus, Terry Snow AM, the 936-seat Snow Concert Hall has become a reality, substantially enhancing the school's commitment to educational and musical excellence. This purpose-built facility is the heart of the school's campus and features a new Music Centre with 17 music tuition rooms, acoustically designed rehearsal classrooms, meeting facilities, and a modern library on the upper floor.
As a venue that enriches the musical landscape of Australia's capital, Snow Concert Hall hosts a wide range of concerts, including performances by local artists, community music groups, visiting orchestras, and internationally renowned talent. Since its opening in August 2022, the concert hall has become a hub for music and learning, not only for the school but also for the broader community to enjoy.
Designed by Cox Architecture, the Snow Concert Hall is a modern structure that prioritizes sustainability, utilizing renewable geothermal energy for highly efficient heating and cooling throughout the year. The design also pays homage to the school's architectural legacy, seamlessly blending with its heritage Quadrangle.
The Snow Concert Hall is not only a venue for music performances but also a space for inspiration and collaboration. The Library and Atrium, situated above the concert hall, offer breathtaking views into and out of the Quadrangle, creating a sense of openness and transparency. The spacious Atrium is perfect for indoor gatherings, functions, and teaching and learning activities, while the Library provides an inviting area for reading and research.
It is important to acknowledge the generosity of Terry Snow AM, whose donation made the Snow Concert Hall possible. Terry, along with his brother George, co-founded The Snow Foundation in 1991 with the aim of benefiting the disadvantaged community in Canberra and beyond. In recognition of their philanthropic efforts, Terry and Ginette Snow were jointly awarded the inaugural Chuck Feeney Award for Philanthropy in 2022.
We invite you to experience the beauty and majesty of Snow Concert Hall, situated in the stunning Red Hill campus of Canberra Grammar School. Whether you are a music enthusiast, a student, or a member of the community, this establishment promises to provide unforgettable musical experiences and contribute to the cultural fabric of Australia's capital.

"The parking was chaotic and inadequate. Not nearly enough disability parking and people had to walk a very long way to get there. Great venue with a vast number of stairs and one tiny lift. Great music"
"Wonderful acoustics. A lovely new venue for Canberra but very slow to exit and not much legroom between the seats."
"Very good acoustics"
"Very moving and a generous time spent playing for us."
