Hoshindo Karate

Welcome to Hoshindo Karate, a local non-profit Adelaide Karate club located in the beautiful city of Burnside, South Australia. We specialize in training students in the traditional Goju Ryu style of karate, suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

At Hoshindo Karate, our classes are taught by enthusiastic JKF Goju Kai graded black belt instructors, who have active links to Japan. We take pride in providing a safe and friendly environment where individuals can get fit and have fun without getting hurt.

But Hoshindo Karate is more than just a karate club, we are a community. All our classes are non-profit, and we welcome anyone to join and have fun. Our continually growing karate family consists of members from all different backgrounds and ages - there are no limits!

As a part of the Seiwakai Goju Ryu Karate-Do organization, which is a member of the Japan Karate Federation (JKF) Goju Kai, we train at a professional standard, remaining true to the traditional and authentic teachings of Seiwakai and the JKF.

We are fortunate to have opportunities to join JKF seminars, training camps, and workshops beyond Hoshindo, both locally, interstate, and even in Japan. These events allow us to update our training knowledge and regime.

All senior gradings, from brown to first black belt (Shodan) and above, are assessed by Senior Senseis and Shihan of Seiwakai and JKF. This ensures that our students receive internationally recognized black belts.

Training in karate at Hoshindo will always give back what you put in. It requires determination, passion, and effort, but the rewards and satisfaction of self-development are continuous. You will develop skills, fitness, strength, mental resilience, and focus that will aid you in all aspects of life.

As you progress through the grades, you will learn fundamental karate techniques through kata and ido-kihon (set routine/pattern of movements) and apply them through partner drills and kumite (sparring).

Hoshindo Karate also participates in JKF and Seiwakai seminars, where our students and instructors take their black belt gradings. Becoming internationally recognized as a black belt is an exciting achievement.

However, if obtaining a black belt is not your ultimate objective, that's perfectly fine! We welcome individuals on their own unique journey and cater to their goals and aspirations.
