Highgate School

Welcome to Highgate School, an esteemed institution located in the beautiful suburb of Highgate, Adelaide, South Australia. Established in 1923, our school is proud to be celebrating its centenary this year. Situated approximately 6km from the city center, Highgate School offers a nurturing and progressive learning environment for approximately 620 students from Reception to Year 6.

At Highgate, we believe in providing a well-rounded education that caters to the diverse needs of our students. Our school offers a unique bilingual/binational French program, accredited by LabelFranc, alongside a traditional mainstream curriculum. Both pathways provide strong programs in languages, STEM, music, and sports. We are also proud to announce that we have achieved candidacy for the IB Primary Years Program and are working towards full accreditation by 2024. Our teaching and learning programs incorporate inquiry pedagogies and student agency, taught through a trans-disciplinary approach and showcased through various events throughout the year.

Our Strategic Plan focuses on four key areas: Learning, Community, Wellbeing, and Environment. Working closely with the Governing Council, we strive to engage the community and maintain a continuous improvement journey. We value honesty, integrity, respect, and kindness, which are embedded in everything we do. Inclusion and wellbeing are at the forefront of our priorities, and we offer various programs and approaches to support the social, emotional, and academic development of our students. We are committed to reconciliation and have been working on our Reconciliation Action Plan, collaborating with Uncle Tamaru and our partnership schools and pre-schools.

As part of our commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities, we have recently completed a significant redevelopment, including the opening of two new buildings and several play spaces. In 2023, we will be celebrating Highgate's Centenary, a year filled with exciting events and celebrations for the school and wider community.

To ensure convenience for our parents, we offer a streamlined process of permission forms and associated payments through EdSmart. You can also make online payments via Qkr! and Direct Debit. Our Finance Office is available to assist with any payment-related queries.

In accordance with updated protocols from the Department for Education, we are now able to accept enrollments from non-zoned families if capacity exists. Qkr! (by MasterCard) is a mobile app that allows you to make payments for school fees, camps, canteen, and uniform shop.

We are excited to share our vision and program design for the French Binational Bilingual Program, which has been approved by the Minister for Education. Our mission at Highgate School is to inspire a love of learning in every student and equip them to be independent, responsible, and positive contributors to global society.
