Nirvana By The Sea

"EDIT - We were never advised of additional services on offer, at any point, so the manager's response is incorrect. The only service in their emails was coffee pods to purchase. Most of their emails and in-room information was about rules. Making guests aware of these services beforehand is important- not waiting until issues arise. Another example is that a few people we met by the pool didn't know you could borrow them from reception. We only knew because of something I had read beforehand. Yes, we departed at 3pm, so that we could ensure the apartment was as clean and tidy as possible and so that we didn't have to rush (especially as we knew we were forfeiting money). We are not awful people and understand roadworks need to occur - the issue in this instance is communication, pure and simple. ORIGINAL REVIEW: My husband and I booked the 2 bedroom ocean view apartment months ago, as a way to get a away for a week and spend restful, quality time together before our baby arrives. However, our stay was unfortunately not at all relaxing. Whilst we were on the 10th floor, they gave us a room that was positioned almost directly above noisy roadworks, directly across from a shopping centre that had loud delivery and rubbish trucks each morning, and across the road from where another apartment block was doing maintenance work on the rooftop that was around the same height. The room's noise blocking was terrible, clearly built before the thick glass now used. This thoroughly impeded on our stay and enjoyment. See video with sound on. Now, the room itself. It was okay. Clean, tidy and a reasonable view. It was quite modern. HOWEVER, the bed was horrible and my husband had to get 2 remedial massages (great place downstairs, BTW!) during the stay to relieve the pain. Being 35 weeks pregnant myself, sleep already eludes me but was much more scarce. Thankfully, we bought our own pillows from home. The couches weren't much better either. Another disappointing aspect was the frosting on the bathroom glass. Sounds minor but I was really looking forward to using the bath, enjoying the ocean view. But I couldn't see a thing from it! See photo. The kitchen could have been better stocked- providing basics like salt, pepper and oil could have gone a long way. But it was spacious and we liked being able to self-cater. The location is useful in terms of being walking distance to lots of nice restaurants, so that is a plus. Customer service was okay. They were friendly people. Had there been communication about the roadworks and building works prior to our stay, we would have been able to make up our own minds as to whether to proceed. The works started in May, after all. No pre-warning or notice on their website or socials was communicated. After all of the above, we decided to check out a day early and enjoy the last evening of our vacation in our own bed and peaceful home. When we checked out, we told them of the issues and all we got was a "sorry". Pretty poor, really. Will definitely not be staying here again, let alone in Kirra/ Coolangatta."

"The team at Nirvana were incredibly accomodating and lovely! It was my first time visit to Gold Coast and the apartment made the stay truly memorable - the location was the best, the heated spa and sauna was great for relaxing, the sunset views was amazing. I was also gifted a bottle of bubbly and chocolates to help me celebrate my birthday on arrival which was very special. thank you Pete, Kim and team! Xx"

"We stayed for one week, the apartment was very clean, spacious and well catered providing everything we needed. The staff on the front desk were always helpful, professional and gave great food recommendations, directions and places to go. Will definitely stay there again, the location was perfect."

"First let me say that we had a great time at Nirvana. The staff were friendly and helpful and the view and outdoor furniture were great. There are plenty of choices for dining out or take away within walking distance and Coolangatta shops are a 17 minute walk. Unfortunately there was a few negatives which I advised the staff about when we left. The shower in the ensuite leaked badly. So much so that it was a slip hazard. The leather lounge needed a good clean and the kitchen stools were way past their used by date. The seal around the oven was broken and hanging down. The apartment was fairly clean but I know I'm fussy so probably shouldn't complain. We stayed in 902 which is a two bedroom ocean view apartment. We did have a good time though and the problems were minor annoyances. We would stay there again."
