The Watershed Function Centre & Cafe

"Function centre to the left, café to the right. Red cars park to the right of the entrance, white cars to the left. We had a plan to get a coffee and go for a walk around the wetlands. The cakes looked too good, had to return to taste some. I saw people enjoying their meals. Unfortunately the café closes at 4 so we need to return for a lunch some other time. Friendly, fast service; great cakes, coffee made the way I ordered. Recommended!"

"The staff were perfunctory at best in attention to service. They made repeated mistakes despite repeated reminders either due to laziness, or lack of proper training. I saw them very lively only in engaging in mindless small talks and platitudes, not so much in listening so much so they forget all requests seconds later. I don't think my expectation of service quality is unreasonable or exceptional, as I generally allowed for one mistake per customer. But I had 4 in a row this morning. The only saving grace is the above average food and good ambience on the deck. Also the table reservation system is not working as it should. We asked for seats inside and were told they were fully booked. But, upon walking in there were more than eight tables unoccupied, reduced to four on our way out. The least the serving staff could do is to ask how much time the customers need and show them a table reserved for slot needed slightly later. Most customers would happily oblige to vacate on time, if given the choice. Guess these are service levels too high to expect knowing the temporary staff whose churn rate is rather high now. Still I hope that the service improves so that I can praise the next time I visit."

"I had brunch here with a friend. We booked in the outdoor undercover area but that echoes considerably so we moved to the outdoor open area. The breakfast menu is reasonably priced given the fancy location. I’d go back. I did think the lunch menu looked very overpriced but it could just be huge servings which is not my thing. The staff were friendly but coffees took awhile to come out. I could see the waitress speed walking so I think they may need some more serving staff."

"Had an excellent outing experience there. Great food, we had garlic prawns on a yummy rice recipe. Not crowded, relaxed surroundings. Popular wetlands boardwalk adjacent with lovely nature to captivate all. Convenient close carpark. Enjoyed conversation with my son Peter and a nice refreshing gin drink which is my usual now when I go out. Plenty of shade if you decide to eat outside. Staff were funny and added to the charm of the nice service. Dog, children and wheelchair friendly atmosphere."

"We had a great time at the watershed cafe! The seafood chowder was really lovely and the seafood was cooked perfectly. The halloumi stack was really great as well and the chargrilled halloumi was fantastic on it. Definitely would come back to try the other options on the menu as it looks great."
