Southport Flexible Learning Centre

Welcome to Southport Flexible Learning Centre, a unique institution located in Southport, Australia. Our institution, established in 2014, is dedicated to providing quality education and support to young people who may have faced challenges in mainstream schools. Our mobile education program initially operated in two areas on the Gold Coast, serving young people from Helensvale to Currumbin. As our program grew, we relocated to our current location in Southport, where we have recently completed our new school buildings.

At Southport Flexible Learning Centre, we are committed to working with all young people who wish to re-engage with education. Our students may face various challenges, including mental health issues, behavior difficulties, learning disabilities, or simply not enjoying the traditional academic approach. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Our institution offers a wide range of activities throughout the week, ensuring a holistic approach to education. From outdoor adventure-based learning to sports, arts, self-reflection workshops, and more, we provide diverse opportunities for our students to explore their interests and develop essential life skills. Additionally, we encourage our students to participate in community-building activities by cooking meals for the community and managing their budgets.

Collaboration is a cornerstone of our approach, and we work closely with various agencies to support our students and meet their individual needs. Our partnerships include organizations such as Headspace, CYMHS, Ted Noffs, Education Queensland, and Wesley Mission.

We have structured our community into three groups based on year levels: Red group for Years 7 and 8, Yellow group for Years 9 and 10, and Blue group for Years 11 and 12. Our structured timetable ensures that all students receive education in core subjects such as English and Maths, along with project-based learning opportunities. The Blue group also focuses on careers and transitions, assisting students in their further education or work endeavors.

To cater to the diverse needs of our students, we offer a selection of qualifications for those in Years 10 to 12. This includes SAS English Communications, Pre-Vocational Maths, and a Certificate II in Functional Literacy. We also collaborate with our partner school, the Trade Skills Centre in Brisbane, to provide additional vocational courses in Automotive and Health at the Certificate II level.
