Reviews
"If any alum are able to help, it would be greatly appreciated. My sibling is in his final year, but will not be able to graduate for another 2 years as Curtin does not review their vax mandate until April 2023, and he cannot attend a lab for a required unit due to his vax status since his vaccine exemption request was denied. He applied for exemption based on: 1) half of our immediate family members experiencing adverse vaccine reactions and ongoing vax-related health-issues; 2) him being in the demographic groups LEAST susceptible to severe covid (i.e. young and healthy with less than 2 co-morbidities); 3) he is in the demographic at HIGHEST risk for vaccine complications such as myocarditis (heart inflammation); 4) Vaccinated individuals can still get & spread Covid, and he is no more of a threat to his classmates than a vaxxed individual. Arguably he is less of a risk because he cannot go anywhere or do anything requiring a vax pass. Given the personal risks for my sibling are high (based on family reactions and his demographic characteristics) and there is little-to-no personal or social benefit in him getting vaccinated (because vaxxed individuals had still infect others), how is the mandate either logical or ethical? Having grown up in post-Apartheid South Africa it is really disheartening to see Curtin University bring in a policy of medical segregation and discrimination. I have not received answers to repeated requests to view Curtin's risk assessments for both Covid and the vaccine, as well as evidence supporting implementation of a mandate."
