For individuals who may be experiencing symptoms related to Autism, ADHD, or learning difficulties, our comprehensive psychological assessment services can provide diagnostic clarity. These unclear symptoms can cause frustration and difficulty in personal, academic, or work-related settings. Without proper assessment and understanding of these challenges, they may persist and affect self-esteem, relationships, and long-term success. Our assessments will guide you and your loved ones towards helpful supports and interventions.

It's important to note that Medicare rebates may apply for individuals under the age of 25 with referrals from pediatricians or psychiatrists, but not for GP referrals. Additionally, Medicare rebates only apply for assessments administered directly by our psychologists, such as autism and cognitive assessments. We recommend checking with your private health care provider for rebates.

Under the new National ASD Assessment Guidelines, a referral is required for ADHD or ASD psychological assessment. We recommend visiting your GP as a first step to discuss symptoms, as they may refer you or your child to a psychiatrist or pediatrician for further review. For children, Millstream Psychology accepts referrals from GPs, pediatricians, and child psychiatrists for ASD assessment. For adults, we only assess for ASD when a referral from a psychiatrist is provided, and we work collaboratively with the psychiatrist.

In Western Australia, under the current ASD National Assessment Guidelines, an experienced Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) with specialist training in ASD assessment and diagnosis is required, depending on the assessor's age.

Under the Better Access Initiative, you have the freedom to choose the psychologist you wish to engage with, regardless of who the GP has addressed the referral to.
