Perth Voices Clinic

Welcome to Perth Voices Clinic, located at Murdoch University on South Street. Our clinic is a point of interest in the health field, providing evidence-based therapies for individuals experiencing voice-related distress. We are also proud to serve as a facility for advanced training for future clinical psychologists and mental health professionals.

At Perth Voices Clinic, we believe in the power of evidence-based therapies to significantly decrease voice-related distress. Our therapy programs are designed to be 10 sessions in length and have shown to have good outcomes. Dr. Georgie Paulik-White, a registered clinical psychologist with extensive experience in delivering and developing psychological therapies for voice hearers, will provide or supervise the therapy sessions.

We work closely with the Hearing Voices Network and can provide information on hearing voices support groups. With your consent, your therapist will also provide feedback to your healthcare providers throughout the therapy process.

Accessibility is a priority for us at Perth Voices Clinic. No diagnosis is required, and you do not need to be receiving other services or treatments. However, we do ask that you be linked in with a GP. Currently, our clinic is seeing adults aged 18 years and above at the Murdoch site. Please note that we do not provide crisis or medical management services. If you are in a mental health crisis or at risk of hurting yourself or others, we will redirect you to local mental health services while keeping the option of re-referral to our clinic open for the future.

Anyone can refer to the Perth Voices Clinic, but we encourage you, as the voice hearer, to call and make your first appointment. Prior to your first appointment, we request that you either provide us with a copy of your NDIS plan (if you have psychology funding) or receive a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP with a referral to the Perth Voices Clinic (clinical psychology). Please note that everyone is eligible for 10 individual therapy sessions and 10 group therapy sessions through Medicare MHCP per year.

We are excited to announce that we have started a new therapy stream targeting visions, also known as visual hallucinations. This therapy focuses on reducing the occurrence of distressing and intrusive visions and aims to alleviate the accompanying distress. The treatment approach primarily works with mental imagery.

Additionally, Dr. Georgie Paulik-White, our Clinical Director and a clinical psychologist, will be conducting a live and interactive online workshop on treating trauma in people with psychosis and/or voices on Monday, 22nd February 2021. The workshop will cover the use of Imagery Rescripting in trauma treatment.
