Welcome to Assessment Matters Child and Adolescent Psychology, located at Hope Island, Cressbrook Drive, 2335. As an establishment focused on health and well-being, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive assessments and therapeutic interventions for children and adolescents.

Our founder, Kerry, has a wealth of experience in the field of psychology. With a Master's degree in Social Science (Psychology) from the University of Natal, South Africa, Kerry graduated with Cum Laude honors. She then embarked on a year-long internship at The Browns' School, where she worked with children with long-term learning disorders, Cerebral Palsy, and Autism.

In 1998, Kerry registered as an Educational Psychologist in South Africa and opened her own psychology practice. She also worked as a school psychologist in a private primary school and lectured at a private teachers' training college, specializing in Child Development and Barriers To Learning.

In 2008, Kerry and her young family made the decision to emigrate to the Gold Coast, Australia. In 2009, she registered with the Psychology Board of Australia as a General Psychologist and became a proud member of the Australian Psychological Society.

Upon her arrival in Australia, Kerry joined a private psychology practice, providing assessments and therapeutic interventions for children, adolescents, and young adults. For the past decade, she has been working as a school psychologist in a private school on the Gold Coast. Her role involves offering counseling support, conducting psycho-educational and psychological assessments, collaborating with teachers and school staff, and providing parental advice on school-related concerns.

In 2021, Kerry decided to establish her own practice once again, and thus Assessment Matters was born. Kerry's passion lies in ensuring that children with school-related difficulties receive appropriate assessments, support, and intervention. She strongly believes that through assessment, children who are intellectually gifted can be identified and provided with the necessary adjustments to help them reach their full potential.

Additionally, Kerry has a keen interest in ensuring that children are fully prepared for formal schooling before they start Preparatory. She understands the potential detrimental effects that sending unprepared children to school can have on their development and mental health.
