About the Business
Welcome to Moerlina School, a progressive primary school located in Mount Claremont, Western Suburbs of Perth. With over 40 years of experience in providing high-quality education, we pride ourselves on our small class sizes, high academic outcomes, and a focus on fostering original thought, persistence, and play.
At Moerlina School, we believe in the importance of creating a collaborative and supportive environment where mutual respect thrives. Our students feel a sense of security and belonging, enabling them to take risks in their learning, challenge themselves, and have high expectations for their achievements. We understand that learning extends beyond the classroom, and our students often venture outdoors and explore new places that are relevant to their studies, deepening their understanding of the world.
Our principal, Perette Minciullo, emphasizes the significance of play as an essential element of a happy childhood and a driver for learning. We also collaborate with Nature Play WA and Sandra Hesterman, Murdoch University Early Childhood Education Director, to ensure our students have access to the best educational experiences.
We were delighted to be featured in an article in The POST newspaper on May 26th, 2018, highlighting MP Julie Bishop's visit to Moerlina School and our commitment to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment for our students.
Moerlina Playgroup offers families a beautiful and caring space where children can explore the world through play and discovery. Guided by an experienced playgroup leader, our playgroup embraces a deep appreciation for nature, celebrating the changing seasons through songs, stories, and craft activities.
In our Nature's Adventurers outdoor learning program, our Pre-Kindy to Year One groups come together to explore local parks and nature reserves. From Mrs Herbert's Garden by the river to Lake Monger, our students engage in various types of play in nature, developing resilience, problem-solving skills, collaboration, negotiation, and risk assessment abilities.
Our Bush School program takes place fortnightly, where children from Years 1 to 6 visit a native bush site to immerse themselves in the natural bushland environment. Through activities like den building, flora and fauna identification, and nature-based art, we aim to build self-esteem, resilience, and creativity among our students.
Term dates for 2023: The last day of Term 3 is on Thursday, 21st September 2023, and Term 4 commences on Tuesday, 10th October 2023. We hope you have an excellent break.
Lastly, we would like to acknowledge that the land on which we live and work is Whadjuk country, and we recognize the Whadjuk Noongar people as the traditional owners and custodians. We respect their rich social, spiritual, and historical connection to this land, which remains as strong today as it was in the past.

"I went here for most of primary school. They were the best seven years of my life. I made so many friends who I still keep in touch with now, and the teachers are amazing."
"My daughter has been attending the kindergarten class here for almost a year and loves it - she gets a bit upset if she has to stay home for any reason on a school day."
