About the Business
Welcome to the John XXIII College website, where we invite you to explore the exceptional educational opportunities we offer for your child. Located in the beautiful suburb of Mount Claremont, our College is committed to providing a nurturing and enriching environment for students from primary school through to university.
At John XXIII College, our vision is for every student to strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives, including academics, personal growth, and community engagement. We encourage our students to approach their educational journey with passion and courage, embracing the challenges that come with deep understanding. We believe that a well-educated student has the power to make a positive difference, both locally and globally.
Our belief is that education is about more than just acquiring knowledge and skills. It is about becoming the best version of ourselves and pushing beyond our limits. Our students participate in a wide range of activities, from sports and arts to spiritual practices, all aimed at helping them discover their true potential and overcome their fears. Through these experiences, they learn the value of perseverance, creativity, and teamwork.
In today's digital age, being media-literate is crucial. While our students are already accomplished in this area, a John XXIII education takes it a step further, empowering them to become true global citizens. Through research, analysis, synthesis, critique, and evaluation, our students develop the skills needed to navigate the complexities of the 21st and 22nd centuries.
At John XXIII College, we believe in addressing the needs of the whole child. Our curriculum goes beyond workplace readiness and focuses on preparing students for the challenges of life. We understand that each student has unique talents and strengths, and we provide the support, strength, and confidence they need to flourish as individuals.
We invite you to experience the John XXIII College difference for yourself. Contact us at (08) 9383 0400 to arrange a tour of our magnificent campus in Mount Claremont. We look forward to meeting with you and discussing how we can provide the best education for your child.
Reviews
"Sadly, I am unable to enter the school due to a "breaking and entering restraining order." Apparently, the slushy machines are for the students and not for the "sewer people" as they referred it. I was promised a chocolate muffin and instead was a drug test."
"this is a wonderful school I went there for nearly 11 years and enjoyed every minute of it until the love from the students forced me to stay and not pay for years of therapy Pretty people and facilities Passionate and good teachers reporting anything to the school does matter and the best they do is getting the other kid to pick up rubbish, which is a great idea. all facilities are incredible the campus is beautiful trash never coats the school there is lots of support for anyone the bathrooms are fragrant and you cannot go in their without being treated in a positive manner and surrounded in hugging students any media about the school via students will get you awarded, including honest reviews it is worth the money at all for the education they provide the teachers are genuinely nice people and are good but the good drastically out weighs the good."
"Sophisticated schooling with a great working enviroment, whilst educating the whole child. My children attend this school and i believe it is a must visit school to any parents that are looking for schools for their children to attend. Couldn't have asked for a better school. Passionate and friendly teachers who maintain a good worth ethic and are excellent at teaching. Whenever you report something of great concern, i can assure you that the school will take action as they believe it is important to adress issues in a serious manner."
"this is a terrible school I went there for nearly 11 years and stuck it out until the abuse from the students forced me to leave and pay for years of therapy Terrible people and facilities Passionate and good teachers reporting anything to the school doesn't matter and the worse they do is getting the other kid to pick up rubbish all facilities are falling apart the campus is disgusting trash coats the school there is no support for anyone the bathrooms are disgusting and you cannot go in their without being stuck in a haze of vape clouds and surrounded in fighting students any media about the school via students will get you yelled at including honest reviews it is not worth the money at all for the education they provide the teachers are genuinely nice people and are good but the bad drastically out weighs the good."
"The Loreto Sisters arrived in Perth in 1897 and established a school in Adelaide Terrace. In 1901 the Sisters opened Loreto Osborne in Claremont. The Jesuit Fathers, following a request from the Archbishop of Perth, opened St Louis School for Boys in 1938. In 1971 the Jesuit Fathers withdrew from proprietorship of St Louis leaving the school to the Archdiocese of Perth. Archbishop Goody appointed a School Council under the Chairmanship of Judge Lavan to organise and run the school. The possibility of amalgamating the two schools in order to present a broader choice of educational opportunities for students was investigated. With much thought and preparation, the desired planning was achieved by the end of 1976. The new John XXIII College was to be located on the original sites with four distinct communities. The Junior Primary years were situated in the Koolyangarra Community, the Upper Primary grades were housed in Campion Community, St Louis Senior School became the home for Years 8 and 9, and the seniors, Years 10 to 12, were housed at Loreto College. 'Seek Justice' was the motto chosen for the new John XXIII College opened in 1977, following the amalgamation of Loreto College and St Louis School. Fr Daven Day, SJ was appointed the first Principal and Sr Bernadette Zeising IBVM was Vice-Principal. Sr Denise Desmarchelier IBVM replaced Fr Day as Principal in 1979. One of her many challenges was to investigate the possibility of consolidating the school on one site. Fortunately, the College Council became aware that the State Government was planning to sell Swanbourne Hospital in order to consolidate the services it provided for mental health. The Council successfully negotiated the purchase of the present 24.6 ha site for John XXIII College. The planning, which began in 1981, was brought to fruition when the students moved to the new campus at Mt Claremont on 11 May, 1986. Since then, there have been many additions all in the same architectural style."
