Welcome to the Derrick Ernst Neighbourhood Centre, located at Morley, Tara Street, 5. As one of only three Occasional Care providers in Perth, we are proud to offer flexible childcare options to families living and working in the surrounding suburbs. Since 1985, our centre has been providing affordable childcare, along with community engagement and support services, to the Bayswater area.

At Derrick Ernst Neighbourhood Centre, we have 12 dedicated and experienced educators who provide childcare for up to 38 children between the ages of 0 and 6. Our commitment to retaining qualified staff ensures that children receive the relational stability they need to build trust and confidence outside of their home environment.

Our newly built facility, completed in 2016, boasts three bright and vibrant indoor/outdoor activity areas designed specifically for babies, toddlers, and kindy-aged children. Our inclusive design ensures that our services are fully accessible to children with disabilities and additional needs.

We offer families the flexibility to book childcare on a casual or permanent basis, and they only pay for the hours they use. There are no charges for cancellations or public holidays. The cost is $20 per hour before the Child Subsidy is applied. Our operating hours are Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 4.30pm.

We encourage everyone to come and take a tour of our centre at any time, with no bookings necessary. Our friendly staff will be happy to show you around and introduce you to the educators who will be caring for your child.

To enroll your child, please bring their immunisation record and birth certificate to the centre, where we can make photocopies for you. You will also need your Family Customer Reference Number (CRN) and your child's CRN, which can be obtained from the Family Assistance Office.

We recommend that you initially book your child in for short periods of time, such as half an hour to an hour, to help them familiarize themselves with the new environment and the other children and educators. This will make for a smoother transition for your child.
