About the Business
Welcome to George Palmer Park, a beautiful establishment located in Silkstone, Sealy Street, Australia. As a park and point of interest, George Palmer Park offers a serene and tranquil environment for visitors to enjoy.
At George Palmer Park, we understand the importance of a responsible budget, especially in the face of major economic pressures. That's why we have implemented a measured approach, with a rate rise under inflation, to ensure that our services and facilities remain accessible to all.
In exciting news, the Commonwealth Hotel restoration project in the Nicholas Street Precinct is now in the construction phase, following the successful completion of the demolition phase. This project is a testament to our commitment to preserving and restoring the heritage of Ipswich.
We are also proud to have hosted The Push's inaugural Queensland Music Careers Expo, where almost 150 young people gathered at the Ipswich Civic Centre. This free event provided valuable insights and opportunities for aspiring musicians and industry professionals.
As a celebration of Ipswich's rich heritage, we are delighted to present Galvanized - A Festival of Heritage. This festival showcases the trades of yesteryear through various events, workshops, talks, and tours. It is an ode to the vibrant history and culture of our city.
Exciting developments are also underway at George Palmer Park. We invite you to be the first to preview the concept designs for the new Southern Resource Recovery Centre and Animal Management Facility. These state-of-the-art facilities will bring improved services and sustainability practices to our community.
Community involvement is at the heart of what we do, and we are pleased to support initiatives like Brighter Brassall. This group of dedicated residents is taking care of our environment, one small step at a time. Their efforts exemplify the power of individual action in creating positive change.
With the arrival of spring, George Palmer Park is bursting with life. The longer days and blooming gardens create a perfect setting to Get Ready for the summer season ahead. We encourage you to make the most of our park and enjoy all that nature has to offer.
In response to the positive feedback from our community, we are relocating the popular Street Patio to the Top of Town. This move follows a successful trial period outside Oikos Café on Limestone Street in Ipswich Central. We hope this new location will continue to enhance the vibrant atmosphere of our city.
Lastly, we are excited to announce that community organizations now have the opportunity to manage one of our four council-owned community facilities. We invite interested parties to submit their applications and be a part of enriching our community.
Thank you for visiting George Palmer Park. We hope you have a wonderful time exploring our park and all that Ipswich has to offer.
Reviews
"Kids enjoyed playground, well maintained grounds. Aggressive homeless near river though."
"Quiet, out of the way park with BBQ, Benches, Kids playground, Adult play area and walking and bike tracks. Enjoyed our Maccas sitting in the shade or a beautiful big tree. Could of stayed all day but life happens so moved on"
"Would be better if there were toilets. Many people seem to stop and enjoy lunch here on the shelters. As well as some adult fitness equipment, There is a nice little children's play area, slide, see saw and flying fox... you can also take a short stroll past some open grass to a wooden bridge style playground. It is a nice little spot, but often has multiple groups of people here."
"There is a playground but it's not really suited to young children (under 5) The bark they have used makes everything dusty and dirty and my kids always end up very dirty from just walking around. It's also very difficult to walk on. Other than the children's area it's lovely and big enough for a few families to have picnics, kids to kick a ball around. There is also a basketball court and 2 outdoor gyms. (One is at the start of the park and the other all the way down the other end)"
"Lovely park. Well maintained grounds with plenty of space for kids to play"
