"Wouldn’t go anywhere near this place ever again for any kind of installation work. I’d booked my 2011 Audi TT in for an installation of a head unit, reverse cam and dash cam (items supplied by myself, custom to my model for exact fit). I was quoted a price over the phone, paid a 50% deposit and dropped it in for the work to be done. The installer called me to ask if I was ok for them to “notch” a support bar that sits behind the head unit so that it’d fit correctly. I said yes, this is a known fitment process for my make and model and to go ahead. When I came back to collect, the head unit was loose in the dash with approximately a 2 finger gap between the dash and head unit which was just sitting in the hole of the dash. I explained I wasn’t satisfied, that this doesn’t count as installation work, and was told “that’s what you get when you order Chinese stuff off of Ali-Baba instead of buying from us”. The product I’ve bought is by no means cheap, and they’ve sold hundreds of units to other TT owners whom have fitted them securely. In addition, the reverse camera installation had interfered with the tailgate locking mechanism, every time the drivers door was closed the tailgate would automatically open. The cables for the forward facing dash cam aren’t hidden in the pillar correctly and are visually messy, the USB cable for the phone is just tucked into the edge of the carpet (on the passenger side, not the drivers) and I was told they won’t fit the USB port in the centre console securely because they “don’t do work that isn’t reversible”, yet they’ve butchered the inside of the dash. I was told by Greg (who is apparently the manager) that my only option is to pay the balance or they won’t release the car. He is unprofessional, spoke over the top of me, and made claims about product supplied by me that aren’t true and don’t excuse the below quality install work I’ve paid for. Because this is supposedly a franchise store there is no recourse and their head office won’t get involved, next step is consumer affairs."

"Autobahn is convenient, but needs wider speed product selection. People will start to do instore shopping more as Online has become a headache and scrolling thru every nut bolt washer or car gell is boring and time waste. A simple list table is only required for many item, rather than a picture."

"Purchased a set of globes for my 09 Jazz. The Team at Autobarn were so helpful even offering to install for me. Staff member Jack got the job to do the changeover. Turned out to be quite a difficult job and took a lot longer than first anticipated. All the way through the job, Jack smiled and was so positive. All up, a really great experience, thanks Autobarn and thanks Jack!"

"Don’t go to this store for roof rack installations, go to a corporate store. I was quoted $300 to install clip on roof racks at the Clayton store whereas it is only $80 at the corporate stores or even $100 at Moorabbin which is a franchise store. Call around and ask for quotes because each store told me a different price but Clayton was by far the most expensive. I told the guy on the phone the exact items I had (there are three parts to my roof racks) along with the name of the bar system which is literally written on the box and I was given a massively inflated quote. The man was pushy and told me he was booking me in for a three hour time slot when these bars would take around an hour if done by someone who actually knows what they are doing. My system can actually be installed without a professional due to being clip on. I may not know heaps about cars but that price was absolutely ridiculous (which other Autobarn stores confirmed for me) and I believe was inflated under the assumption that I know nothing and am gullible. This type of exorbitant quoting is a common theme in the reviews of this store. Work relating to cars shouldn’t have a “pink tax.”"
