Located in the vibrant city of Melbourne, Australia, our academy was founded in 2018 by Sukhjinder Singh Laddi, a renowned director and gold medalist in folk instruments. With a passion for promoting Punjabi Virsa and preserving our rich cultural heritage, Sukhjinder Singh has performed on numerous prestigious platforms including the Indian Council For Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Ministry Of External Affairs.

Having showcased his talent in countries like Italy, France, Hungary, Turkey, Paris, Budapest, and Bhutan, Sukhjinder Singh's expertise in folk dance, such as Bhangra, Jhoomer, Malwai Giddha, and Jindua, as well as his mastery of folk instruments like Algozey, Tumbi, Flute, Bugdu, Been, Sarangi, and Dhol, has garnered him immense recognition. His achievements include being a gold medalist from Patiala University in Folk Instruments Algozey and coaching successful Folk Orchestra teams at various levels, from zonal to national competitions.

Sukhjinder Singh Laddi is also a prominent Algozey recordist in the Punjabi music industry, Bollywood, and Coke Studio. Currently, he provides coaching in Folk Dance and Folk Instruments to individuals of all age groups, with branches operating across Melbourne, including Cranbourne East, Lynbrook, Pakenham, Taylors Lakes, Keysborough, Mulgrave, and Wollert.

Folk Lovers Academy has been recognized for its excellence in the field of dance, winning both the Telstra Bollywood dance competition and the Australian Indian Got Talent in 2019. Our academy's purpose is to engage and bring our community closer to our Punjabi Virsa by promoting traditional folk dances and folk instruments. We strive to introduce our rich culture and heritage to a wider audience, fostering a sense of pride and appreciation.
