Counselling sessions at Willow Tree Counselling are 60 minutes long, and the number of sessions you attend is entirely up to you. During your initial session, we will discuss your goals for counselling, confidentiality, and what you can expect from our services.

"Unfortunately I was told that I couldn’t keep coming after a year of going. This is the worst thing to do to someone who has experienced trauma and abandonment and left me worse off than I was to begin with, and destroyed my trust in psychologists. I feel that someone who specializes in trauma should know not to do this. I also wasn’t given any referrals to any other psychologists or help with finding a new psychologist. From the Blue Knot guidelines: “Facilitate continuity of care as appropriate - Histories of betrayal and abandonment render complex trauma clients vulnerable to feelings of rejection. The ending of therapy (for whatever reason) is itself a process which represents `a critical opportunity to support and sustain the client’s gains in relational, emotional, and behavioural self-regulation’.27Courtois, Ford & Cloitre note that in the event of client engagement with a new therapist or treatment provider, interventions which encourage a sense of continuity should be integrated into the client’s transition process.”"
