MacKillop College - St Mary's Campus

Welcome to MacKillop College - St Mary's Campus, located in Werribee South, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, our school offers an exciting and challenging program specifically designed for Year 9 students. Our curriculum is closely linked to the local area, allowing our students to actively engage with their community and the world around them.

At St. Mary's Campus, we believe in learning through experience. Throughout their semester, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of experiences, including two Outdoor Education camps, excursions, and immersion days. These experiences enhance their understanding of themselves, their community, and the world.

Our Integrated Studies curriculum is a key component of our program. It consists of modules that integrate various learning areas such as English, Religious Education, Humanities, Science, The Arts, and Technology. In addition to Integrated Studies, stand-alone subjects like Mathematics, Languages (French, Italian, and Japanese), and Health and Physical Education are also taught.

Inquiry-based learning is a central feature of our Integrated Studies curriculum. Students are encouraged to investigate areas of interest that are connected to their classroom studies. This approach gives them responsibility and ownership over their learning. As an example, students complete an Action Inquiry Based Learning Task towards the end of their semester, where they investigate a topic of their choice and take action to make a positive difference in their world.

At St. Mary's Campus, we believe in empowering student voice and providing opportunities for leadership. The Senate, our student leadership group, plays a crucial role in creating a vibrant and inclusive campus environment. Students apply for positions in the Senate and present to the entire St. Mary's cohort, including teachers and students, to explain why they should be elected. Teachers then consider students' achievements and adherence to college expectations before electing them to their leadership positions.

The Senate works closely with the Campus Co-Coordinator to organize and run assemblies, special days (Resilience Day and Sustainability Day), liturgies, and various extra-curricular activities. Our Senate operates as an executive government, led by the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, with Ministers responsible for specific portfolios. These portfolios include Catholic Identity, Environment and Sustainability, Social Justice, Wellbeing, Multimedia and Photography, Music and Performing Arts, Sport and Recreation, Academia, Science and Technology, and Transport. Students set goals related to their portfolios at the beginning of their semester and receive support and guidance from staff to achieve these goals.
