"Not the investment in education I expected. Can't speak for the experience of others, but here are my thoughts. If looking at this be mindful. To understand the difference between Fee-help and HECS. This degree cost me $20,000 more than I expected and have noted others experiencing this. The additional cost was a loan fee which was not articulated by the recruitment teams nor understood by anyone I knew as it differed from the standard University payment support system. Be mindful as a new student. Read the legal documents thoroughly. A few years ago I brought this up and was met with disregard. My experience has taught me to be mindful about publicly listed educational institutes. Would I study here if presented the opportunity to start again? No, no I wouldn't, wrong industry and sector for me. Have some thoroughly enjoyed the experience, yes and have found built great careers. Mixed experience with lecturers. Some great and taught a great deal. Others for example didn't teach anything, one consistently repeating 'I have a Masters', 'I have a Masters' while walking away from roughly $300 class not knowing anything other than they had a masters. I definitely regret that class. :( While others took a great deal of time to review work and provide insights to areas of improvement. Do I think the government should step in to create and review protections for students. Yes. Not just for this school but for all, but in particular those that are publicly listed. As I understand this school went through a number of mergers which certainly had an impact. My perspective is the college acted with unconscionability often changing the terms of the agreement as each merger progressed. P.S. The response is vacuous and saving face. Absolutely consistent with past experience. The eponym lives on!"
"I had an interesting experience with some of the lecturers' BUT Only one who actually cares and is willing to help me. Sir you are the best of the best. But this one female lecturer, I know the others had same experience as me with this female lecturer. Not sure why she was there, if she is not willing to help someone who actually need help by asking for help. And you know what she did? She want to expel me and get me off the course, even though I was the one who asked for help. My fault for doing Diploma of Design and thinking this school was it. And she had a great audacity to tell me grow thick skin after trying to expel me for the issue that could fixed so easily lol and did not bother to help me at all. And thank you so much for giving me a trust issues with the female ancient lecturers and making me feel bad for needing help. Please don't be a lecturer. ^ v ^ β‘ Edit: It too late"
"Great teaching and content but the student services is horrendous. I even ended up dropping out and going to a new university because they would not respond to any sort of contact about my reenrolment. I accepted my offer for the bachelor (from my original diploma) after multiple calls texts emails it ended up being 2 weeks into the semester before I got a response. I finally received a response and enrolled but then there were no units for me to select. Again I called emailed and texted multiple times a day to receive no response. It became a month into semester with me not having any units so I just left it at that and went to another university. Super disappointing. But other than that the quality of teaching was great. Not much of a social aspect amongst students and the campus is nice but small with not much area to socialise or hangout between classes."
"RUN! Do not walk far, far, FAR AWAY!! Billy Blue is a failing money grubbing institution, in the time since I've been attending this educational facility to complete a diploma and bach interior design I have bared witness to international students grades being changed so they pass despite not meeting the bare minimum level of work needed. Teacher's forbidden from saying a bad thing about billy blue or Torrens Courses. Enrolment officers making grossly unrealistic promises of employment opportunities in creative industries. Failing to provide practical software education to accurately prepare them for their desired industry. I could cry over the hours I have spent weaving through the phone web that is student services. The open subject selection process appears to confuse and lure misguided first years into third year course resulting in subject repetition and they skirt this flaw in the system with course coaches you have to seek out. Every time I have sought the help of the IT team has been a waste as they can provide no further help than the equivalent of "have you tried turning it off and on again?" Every student is forced to take out of touch core subjects meant to teach design process, teamwork, integrity and values but I have not come across a single student who feels these courses provided any value to their academic experience or taught them valuable components of a career in design. Worst of all they will wreak havoc on your student loans, today I received a letter from the ATO notifying that Torrens reverse previous student loan amounts charged at the old rate only to recharge me for those same units at the new rate. I spent a morning in utter panic because Torrens wanted to squeeze an extra $1600 out of my loan. At the end of day the flexibility of course, industry professional teachers and flash campus does appeal to those looking to study in design however as a student at the end of my studies If I had this time over I would have done anything else but attend Billy Blue. Save the heart ache and money and go somewhere else."
"Terrible, went here for 1.5 yrs. 30K debt. I dropped out as they literally taught us nothing. And now looking back, it was the biggest mistake of my life. I know have to pay it all back. To add, NATHAN scholar was an absolutely horrible person. He would victimize and bully students. Infact a few of the teachers here were just down right nasty and out of the design industry for some time. I still cry seeing the indexation and my loan repayment go higher each year .. There is absolutely nothing to discuss, this place is a scam. No education should be that expensive , esp if you have to buy your own licensing to software and hardware."
