Welcome to Sydney College of the Arts, Australia's first tertiary art school! Since our establishment in 1976, we have been at the forefront of studio-based visual arts practice and education. Our Master of Film and Screen Arts program offers a hands-on education in contemporary moving image production, guiding students through the entire process of developing a film project from concept to screen. As a student at Sydney College of the Arts, you will have access to our state-of-the-art editing laboratory, gallery spaces, art studios, practical expertise, and a vibrant postgraduate culture.
For those interested in Visual Arts, our program is designed to provide you with the conceptual, theoretical, and technical skills necessary for a successful career as a practicing artist or in various creative industries. Taught primarily at Sydney College of the Arts, you will have access to our gallery spaces, art studios, practical expertise, and a supportive postgraduate community.
To be admitted into our Bachelor of Visual Arts and combined Bachelor of Advanced Studies degrees, you will need to meet the academic admission criteria and submit a portfolio of your artwork. Please note that some degrees, such as Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Economics, are also eligible for this requirement, with the exception of the Bachelor of Visual Arts/Bachelor of Advanced Studies.
At Sydney College of the Arts, we take pride in our active gallery program, which showcases works by Australian and international contemporary visual artists, designers, staff, students, and graduates. Our commitment to research is reflected in our trans-disciplinary approach, connecting contemporary art with various fields such as architecture, music, environmental humanities, politics, Indigenous studies, history, philosophy, design, science, and technology. Our staff and postgraduate students are renowned for their practice-led research, with their creative and scholarly works being exhibited and published in prestigious venues, journals, monographs, and media outlets worldwide. We offer research degrees at the master's and doctoral levels, providing a stimulating environment for creative discoveries through forums, exhibitions, and symposiums.
For those in need of printing services, our Print Lab produces high-quality archival pigment museum grade prints in various sizes and materials. Equipped with cutting-edge technology and software, our wide-format machines ensure exceptional results.
