About the Business
Welcome to The Yonteen Dancer's, the premier dance and ballet institution in North Richmond, Australia. Located at 33 William Street, our establishment has been a point of interest in the community since its establishment in 1977. As a school that offers children's dance classes, we pride ourselves on being highly organized and dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for our students.
At The Yonteen Dancer's, we believe in the power of praise and encouragement to build confident performers. Our principal, Jody Bodell, is fully qualified in R.A.D. Classical Ballet and F.A.T.D. Tap, ensuring that our students receive the highest level of training. Many former pupils of The Yonteen Dancer's have gone on to have successful careers in the field of dance, performing in theatrical shows overseas, aboard cruise ships, and in theatre restaurants.
While we offer show troupe and competition work for our students when they are ready, we understand the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between dance and family life. We do not force our students to engage in endless hours of rehearsal or compete every weekend. Instead, we foster a supportive environment where our studio community comes together, forming lasting social bonds and friendships.
When it comes to costumes, we ensure that our pupils perform in age-appropriate attire. For just $30, each costume is provided by the studio and can be kept by the student. We understand the importance of preserving the innocence of our younger pupils, which is why we do not have them wear revealing costumes or perform steps that are not appropriate for their age.
Our wide range of dance classes caters to various interests and skill levels. From jazz and tap classes to ballet/lyrical classes, which include modern expressive and contemporary styles, we offer a diverse curriculum to suit every dancer's preferences. Additionally, we are excited to introduce our newest addition, Tiny Dancer Preschool dance classes, designed for 2-4 year olds.
Whether your child is a beginner or an advanced dancer, we have dance lessons available for pupils aged 2 years and above. Located at the North Richmond Community Centre, our institution is the perfect place to embark on a journey of self-expression and artistic growth.
Join us at The Yonteen Dancer's and experience the joy and fulfillment that comes with dancing. Enroll your child today and let them discover their passion for dance in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Reviews
"My experience with Yonteen Dance has been unfortunately unpleasant. My 11 year old daughter danced here for a year. We came because it had a small club feel and seemed less competitive than many dance schools. As a father who organised and paid for my daughter’s dance, I initially only got group messages addressed “Hi Mums”. In fairness once I brought this up with Jody, it changed. When we came back this year, my daughter was enthusiastic. It turned out she was the only student from the whole class who was not invited to be in their performance team that does the Hawkesbury Show and other places. She sat out a chunk of the lesson time watching everyone training. When I asked about this, the message in brief was that she was not up to standard for the team, and if she were included it would raise the group age bracket which would make them less competitive. I was never told she was lacking in any way in dance in the past. She did not get encouragement or a pathway to show or develop the skills she was apparently lacking. She was just excluded- the only one. If your child is a top dance student and looks the part, Yonteens may be for you. If you want to build your child’s self esteem, keep them active and have them learn new skills in a nurturing environment, this may not be the club for you."
