Entry to the site is free above ground, where you can embark on a fascinating heritage walk among the historic buildings. Please note that underground tours are currently suspended until further notice due to ongoing maintenance works. However, there is still plenty to see and do above ground.

Operating from 1909 until 1968, this mine produced almost 17 million tonnes of coal for Victoria's industries and railways, playing a significant role in the region's history.

Start your visit at the Visitor Centre, where you can watch an informative film in the theatrette and explore the souvenir shop, filled with unique mining memorabilia and items celebrating Wonthaggi's rich history. As you continue your exploration, enjoy the beautiful gardens and walk among the historic buildings along the heritage trail.
