About the Business

Welcome to Sherbrooke Falls, located in Sherbrooke Forest, the largest section of the stunning Dandenong Ranges National Park in Australia. Nestled in nature, Sherbrooke Falls is an establishment that serves as a point of interest and a must-visit tourist attraction.
As you step into Sherbrooke Picnic Ground and O'Donohue Picnic Ground, you will feel a sense of tranquility and serenity that can only be found in the heart of nature. This area offers a stark contrast to the bustling popularity of the nearby 1000 Steps, providing a peaceful retreat away from civilization.
The well-equipped picnic grounds serve as the starting point for several walking trails that lead you into a mesmerizing rainforest. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the towering Mountain Ash trees, graceful stringybarks, and lush tree ferns that surround you. And, of course, the highlight of your journey will be the enchanting waterfalls that grace this magical landscape.
To reach Sherbrooke Falls, follow the Sherbrooke Track or O'Donohue Track, both of which are clearly signposted. Although the falls may be small and partially hidden by the majestic tree ferns, the true star of this walk is the rainforest itself. The scents of the forest after rainfall are simply intoxicating, and the waterfalls flow gracefully, creating a symphony of nature's beauty. Keep an eye out for the elusive lyrebirds and other wildlife, as they often make appearances after the rain, ensuring you are in the best of company.
Please note that as waterfalls are situated within a natural environment, certain hazards may be present. We highly recommend following our water safety advice to ensure your visit to Sherbrooke Falls is both safe and enjoyable.
At Sherbrooke Falls, we strive to provide accessibility for all visitors. We understand that visiting a park can pose challenges for people with disabilities. Therefore, we have assessed our facilities at Sherbrooke, O'Donohue, Grants, One Tree Hill, and Ferntree Gully picnic grounds for accessibility. In June 2020, we conducted assessments and provided detailed information and photos to ensure that people of all abilities can fully enjoy the wonders of our parks.
We warmly welcome assistance dogs in Parks Victoria parks and reserves. However, please note that entry requirements apply for parks and reserves where dogs are usually prohibited, such as national parks.
As conditions in nature can change unexpectedly, we recommend checking this page prior to your visit for any updates or changes.
Lastly, we would like to acknowledge the significance of Aboriginal cultural landscapes within Victoria's network of parks and reserves. Parks Victoria recognizes and respects the enduring connection that Traditional Owners have to these landscapes. We deeply appreciate their ongoing role in caring for the Country on which we learn, explore, and live.
Come and experience the breathtaking beauty of Sherbrooke Falls, where nature's wonders await you.
Reviews
"Always wanted to do the trails at Sherbrooke Forest…very scenic and tranquil…"
"A well defined tracked, 1.4km in to the falls themselves. I would so much call them falls but casades. Though the falls themselves are left to be desired, The pleasant walk through the Dandenong Ranges tracks is relaxing, Native bird life, wild strawberries and abundance of fungi to spot and the beautiful shade of the tree ferns. No public amenities at the destination"
"Such a beautiful forest with multi types of bushes and plants, little creeks and streams (we didn’t see water fall) run over the rocks and bushes, chilling and relaxing for a short hike."
"Ok straight up it’s not what I would call a water fall. There’s a walking bridge over it and you can see water falling over some boulders and rocks but you’d see more waterfall action after holding it in on a 6 hour road trip with no stops. It is a really nice walk though and worth strolling through - even bring the kids, dogs and prams. There’s no Kmart though, only forest stuff and the occasional echidna. Oh and no cafe so bring your own single origin flavour. There are a few picnic tables nearby as well so it’s well worth a day trip for a nice quick city getaway just, lower your expectations as to what ‘falls’ might be."
"The walk can be as long as you want. A short loop from the carpark at the top. Or extended to the lower parts of the mountain. Got lost a few times, missed the signs. Improved sign posting/positioning would be great. The 2hr walk ended up taking 3hrs. Look for the gates. Would be good if blocked off bridges were blocked off on both ends to prevent people walking from one end to see a blocked path on the other side. A reasonable amount of water in late Dec after some rainfall."
