About the Business
Welcome to Harleston Park, a hidden gem located in the heart of Elsternwick, Australia. This tranquil suburban park is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, offering a range of amenities and attractions for all to enjoy.
One of the highlights of Harleston Park is its renowned playground area, known for housing the 'longest slide in Glen Eira'. Children can spend hours of endless fun sliding down this impressive structure, which sits atop a natural hill. The playground also features various other play equipment, ensuring that kids of all ages have a great time.
For those looking to host a small gathering or enjoy a delicious BBQ, Harleston Park has you covered. With multiple picnic shelters and nearby BBQ facilities, you can relax and indulge in a tasty meal amidst the beautiful surroundings. These shelters can also be booked and reserved for outdoor events, making it a perfect spot for birthdays, family reunions, or community gatherings.
Harleston Park is not just a playground and picnic spot, it is also a place of historical significance. The park is named after Sir Frederick Grimwade, who built Grimwade House, formerly known as Harleston House, in 1875. The park's open spaces are filled with majestic historic trees, creating a serene atmosphere that is perfect for leisurely strolls or picnics under the shade.
Sports enthusiasts will be delighted to find a three-point basketball court within the park. This provides an alternative play opportunity, allowing visitors to engage in friendly competitions or practice their shooting skills. The court is complemented by a running stream water feature, adding a touch of charm and character to the park.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Sport Australia for their contribution to the three-point basketball court, as part of the Community Sport Infrastructure Grant. Their support has enhanced the recreational offerings at Harleston Park, ensuring that visitors have a diverse range of activities to enjoy.
Whether you're seeking a peaceful escape from the bustling city or a fun-filled day with family and friends, Harleston Park is the perfect destination. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty, soak up the history, and create lasting memories in this beloved Elsternwick community park.
Reviews
"The playground is great. The artificial creek is wonderful. The toilets are a mess - take hand sanitiser, tissues and baby wipes. Don’t book for a party here - the park is overrun by pigeons that attack for food. You have to constantly guard your food and it’s not a relaxing experience."
"Picturesque stunning park. Beautiful and great photographically, have a look Bbq's, toilets and even can book/reserve picnic areas and Bbq's for functions or events!"
"The Booran Reserve provides a great place for people to relax and play. Families with kids looking for an awesome place where their children can play with great playground equipment such as slides, swings, roped climbing structures and a running stream of water that young and old alike will definitely find entertaining - bring spare clothes for your young ones! The reserve also has lots of space to hold parties. There are tables with benches around plus bbq facilities. It is also good that the council has put in toilet facilities for guests to use - I think this should be a standard for reserves especially when you have kids who want to make a toilet run. Bring with you your basketball, your mates and have a good pick-up game of basketball because this reserve has a half-court! Parking can be a bit crowded on a good day which is understandable given how beautifully made this reserve is. But street parking around the area is good and a good short walk won't hurt anyone."
"Beautiful park for younger kids. Very good selection of play: slides, waterway, sands... great for 1-5 year old"
"Its a gorgeous well equipped place to take the family to play bbq ir picnic. Love the lil running river on warm days to cool your kiddies feet off. Love it here."
