About the Business

Welcome to Werribee River Park, a captivating establishment and a must-visit tourist attraction located in Cocoroc, Australia. Immerse yourself in the opulence of Werribee Park, a historical estate that was built on the prosperity of an Australian pastoral empire. As you explore this magnificent park, you'll have the opportunity to discover the heritage-listed Werribee Mansion, enjoy a delightful picnic in the stunning formal gardens, and witness a breathtaking display of color when the Victoria State Rose Garden comes alive with 5000 blooming roses.
Prepare to be awestruck by the grandeur of Werribee Mansion, a true architectural marvel. Take a leisurely stroll through the meticulously manicured gardens, where you'll be enchanted by the expansive landscape, intricately designed grotto, and ornamental lake. As you wander through the park, you'll also encounter the remaining bluestone outbuildings of the farmyard, providing a striking contrast to the Chirnside Mansion's exquisite craftsmanship. Don't forget to visit the heritage orchard, lovingly preserved and restored by the community and Parks Victoria, showcasing the fruit orchard originally planted by the Chirnside family in the late 1800s.
The best part? Entry to Werribee Park Gardens and the Victoria State Rose Garden is completely free! However, please note that our car park gates close at 5:30 pm on weekdays and 6:30 pm on weekends and public holidays, so plan your visit accordingly.
For a truly immersive nature experience, we recommend exploring the park with one of Victoria's Licensed Tour Operators. With over 400 operators to choose from, you can embark on a variety of nature-based activities such as hiking, mountain biking, boating, birdwatching, and much more. These knowledgeable guides will ensure your safety and make sure you get the most out of your adventure.
No matter the season, Werribee River Park offers something special. Enjoy a delightful summer picnic or barbecue in the Werribee Park Picnic Area, overlooking the picturesque Victoria State Rose Garden and the magnificent mansion. Visit the Victoria State Rose Garden in March to witness a vibrant display of autumn roses, while the formal garden's trees offer a stunning burst of color in the fall. Even during the winter months, the Werribee Mansion remains open year-round, inviting you to join an audio tour, indulge in morning tea at the café, or take a leisurely stroll through the enchanting gardens.
Please note that while roses are in bloom from October to late July, the Victoria State Rose Garden showcases the first flush of colorful blooms and spring roses at their peak in November. A visit to the orchard during this time will treat you to the sight of blossoming apple trees.
At Werribee River Park, we strive to make our facilities accessible to people of all abilities. To assist individuals with limited mobility, we have released a video showcasing the all abilities access and experiences available in the park. Additionally, our social script resources for children on the autism spectrum, developed in collaboration with AMAZE, aim to enhance the accessibility of our parks.
We warmly welcome assistance dogs in all Parks Victoria parks and reserves. However, please be aware that prams and dogs (excluding assistance dogs) are not permitted in the Mansion.
For school students, Werribee Mansion offers curriculum-aligned ranger-guided excursions. You can download the education program from our Ranger-led Learning Experiences page.
As conditions in nature can change unexpectedly, we recommend checking this page for any updates before your visit.

"Lovely river walk where dogs are welcome. No shade but easy path, nice views. Note, the road to the car park is full of large potholes and requires a lot of manoeuvring to avoid. Not unsafe but not everyone would enjoy this road."
