Mad Monkey Downtown

"I had an extremely disappointing experience at this hostel, and I feel the need to share my opinion to warn other travelers. If you're looking for a clean, organized place with a comfortable environment, you should definitely steer clear of this hostel. Let's start with the kitchen, which was horrendously dirty. The lack of cleanliness was evident everywhere, with greasy surfaces, unwashed dishes piled up, and a strong unpleasant odor. Furthermore, there was hardly any storage space available in the refrigerators, making it impossible to keep food properly chilled. To make matters worse, there were only two small tables available for guests to sit and eat. It was a constant struggle to find a spot, especially during busy hours. This lack of dining space made it incredibly inconvenient to enjoy a meal or have a comfortable place to socialize with fellow travelers. Moving on to the rooms, they were plagued with a foul smell that permeated the entire area. It was clear that proper cleaning and ventilation were lacking, contributing to an uncomfortable and unhygienic environment. The beds were also uncomfortable and poorly maintained, making it challenging to get a good night's sleep. And speaking of sleep, forget about having a restful night at this hostel. The noise levels were unbearable, with people shouting and screaming in the hallways until the early hours of the morning, completely disregarding the comfort of others. In summary, this hostel was a complete nightmare. The disgustingly dirty kitchen, lack of dining space, foul-smelling rooms, and sleepless nights due to constant noise made for an incredibly unpleasant stay. I strongly advise avoiding this place. There are plenty of other options in the area that offer a much better experience with cleaner facilities, considerate staff, and a more peaceful environment."

"The Mad Monkey Downtown is the best of the Mad monkeys in Sydney. The hostel is super social and everything is very good organized. Every day are different events which are so much fun. The staff team is always with a smile on the floors and help you out if you need something. It is always very clean especially the bathrooms. All in all a great time in the mad monkey downtown. I would always recommend it and I’ll come back"

"The most social hostel I’ve stayed in Sydney. Both the rooms and common are are clean and spacious. Always staff cleaning throughout the day. The staff are friendly and social which makes the place more welcoming, especially as a solo traveller. Each night is a different event which is great fun. The location of the hostel is perfect, 20 mins walk into the CBD and right next to the train station. Would highly recommend"

"It is honestly one of the best hostels I stayed in. There are daily events that bring a lot of fun and make it easy to find new people. There’s a housekeeping team that cleans your room everyday and which also keeps all common areas clean 24/7. Nice and helpful Staff and also very nice people. Highly recommended!"

"Loved my stay at Mad Monkey Downtown! One of my favorite hostels ever. They had free events on every day and provide a very social atmosphere where it’s easy to meet people. The beds are comfy and the common area & rooftop are spacious areas to hang out in. The staff are lovely as well. Would definitely recommend staying here!"
